I half remember a conversation with Warlord Games (Dave) that the ECW table would be good on 8x6, due to you needing people to be able to reach the middle, especially younger participants, and also the two sides are closer together, and quicker into melee combat. (two problems they had at Salute last year apparently...) which shows of BP better...
12x8 is great though... but if it helps, might be worth asking Warlord there thoughts...

Point I've always made about really large games - the kiddies that can reach over the table without knocking stuff everywhere is a real headache. 8x6 is a good decent size with 12 x 8 tables you will have to employ the battlefield positioning sticks or an out of work gibbon.
Incidentally Kieron have you ordered those round bases for the zulus yet - cheers?

all we do is give them options on what they want to do and then move the appropriate models if they cant reach.
i'd rather move my own figures anyway if its younger gamers to avoid damages etc
