I HAVE RE-POSTED THIS, COULD DO WITH SOME MORE IDEAS PLEASE.
Well, it will soon be November and we really need to start planning games for the FOH - 2010.
this is what we know so far;
Warlord Games they are planning a HUGE Naseby game using their ECW stuff with Kieron and myself planning on joining in so far, but of course anyone else can stick their hat in the ring for this as well.
Warren the Battle of Khambula is his poison this time with the British taking on the Zulus. Warren is repainting the Khaki painted British from the Boer war game of 2008 and he is still looking into the Zulus.
Simon the Trafalgar rules will be used for this 'ship on ship' action with the actual scenario still to be decided upon but maybe a Britsh v French battle and maybe even some pirates!!
Andy / Roddy Flames of War infantry battle? maybe pegasus bridge or something similar. we may need LOTS of buildings.
i have 12 boards that can be used for the last two games listed above if you'd like them. they can be repainted blue for the ship thing and grey streets for the flames one.
ACW i would like to see this done again to get some more use from the donated models from this year, but maybe suing a different scenario. Darrell, Alex, Gavin and Brian ran this table this year and perhaps one of you guys would like to take this on, although someone brand new can obviously put themselves forward. we do need to finish the painting on the last few figures please guys. i also think we should use the new Warlod games Black Powder rules as they are very kindly donating a free copy to the club.
ROMANS versus? as above i'd like to see the free stuff used once again. i have a large castle / fort which Colin donated to the club and can paint this up to use in a siege type game if required as i think a fortress always goes down well with people, especially kids. Steve and several others ran this game this year, and would like someone to take this on again please. any takers?? the fortress idea is just that, an idea, please fell free to suggest / do your own thing.
Wings of War anyone want to do this?
if anyone has any other ideas for games please fire them at us, although the only restriction is they MUST be historical, we cannot do sci-fi or fantasy etc.
thanks guys
added 30/10/9
as they gave us the free ACW stuff this year, i would like to invite the Perrys along to Kelmarsh 2010 to perhaps run a game using their Napoleonic figure range. does anyone have any objections to this idea. there is no guarantee that they will accept, as although they donated the free armies this time they did not take me up on an offer to attend in July, as thier partners run a stall at Kelmarsh selling jewellery and such. just thought this would be good, please let me know asap as would like to ask them next week to give them ample time to prepare.

i'm sure you could mate. Kieron and I are going to offer our armies to beef up the numbers as i think the Warlord guys are planning a HUGE table for this game, based around the battle of Naseby.
which side have you gone for? we could have a game if you like at some point in the near future. i have royalists. have got the new Black Powder rulebook and its excellent.

Hi - Are we trying to do too much? There are a lot of games listed above and can not see how we can put them all on and not be slaves to the tables all day. I hope to be able to do the whole thing this year and would like to help out with ECW stuff if possible.
I have also spoken to Dad and neither o us feel very comfortable about building redoubt for Warren - buildings are fine but this may prove tricky to make look really good.

James; will chat with you more tomorrow about the above. most of the ECW table is being done by Warlords with a few of us chipping in. we should have more than enough bodies to do the rest.

James I had a look but they are not really clear on size.
Defo idea for the wagons with all that baggage / mealie bags around it. The wagon Kraal is supposed to be hexagonal - in other words 6 of them have to be done. So you can judge by the size of the wagons how big that is. This would house 2x 20 British troops plus Cavalry and some Native Natal Contigents.
I worked out that the redoubt should be 12 -14 inches long by 9 -10 inches wide. Height should be at least 2-3 inches with room for 20 to 30 British troops and two mule guns with 5 crew each. They would need a rampart perhaps to shoot from or if you have level inside field which is 1inch from the top of the defensive mealie bags. This would cover the whole internal area - trouble is having it elevated that high and supporting the troops on it.
The Cattle Kraal and Palisades are not a problem - I have these already. I hope that helps in the idea to make these. The wagons will be difficult but can be easily done with lollypop sticks - I did one which you have seen. It was one of the anti-elephant carts we used in the Epirote vs Romans games in Kelmarsh 2008.

Carl I do have 40 British Troops from Wargames Factory so I might not need to "despoil" the Boer look of Boer Modder River models. Although I may need to repaint some of the cavalry and gun crew. Can I ask if the ACW wagons are going to be used in Gavin's game as I would like to use them? If I can't I can set about making my own from scratch - I need four.
