Since we will be having an all day games session on the 3rd Jan. would anyone be interested in joining in a doubles tournament that I am hoping to run with Darrell's assistance?
Eight players would be perfect as then all teams play each other to decide on the overall winner.
Rules as per the GW doubles event, but with proposed slight modifications:
1. Each team have to bring two different armies, i.e. no battle brothers
2. There will be no ally restrictions, e.g. High Elves can ally with Dark Elves *gasp*.
3. If the above irules are accepted, then there will be no -1 ld for distrustful.
The above proposed modifications are only if the majority of the participants agree, but I think it makes for seeing more variety.
The prize at the end of the day will be bragging rights until the next tournament.
Unlike noble Warren (not playing in SFS), I will be playing in the event.

If it's following the GW rules for Warhammer doubles that would be two 750 points forces making up a single 1,500 point army. Each force must have 1 character each to lead the army, and must contain at least 1 core choice each. The combined army must follow the normal rules for a 1,500 army in terms of max hero's, minimum core units, specials, rares etc. If you want to download the current Doubles rules pack it's available here warhammerworld.typepad.com/warhammer_world_news/files/gw472_dt_text_war.pdfI'd be interested in this. I'm also happy with the rules modifications suggested. I can think of some horrible combinations already.

Hmmm this might interest me - however I thought Liam was doing a big bash? Trouble here is that people will have to team up before hand - or... giving the restrictions lift it would be interesting to put all players in a hat a draw them out. The players would need to commit their army types first (not a list) - you can't have someone changing their mind on the army type afterwards. For instance if I said I would play Empire then this would go in the hat and I would be drawn to play with someone else. However I couldn't then suddenly change to VC to match up with an opponent. The lists would be then made to compliment each force. Does that sound like a good idea?
I've never heard of the "Bragging Rights" currency how many of those do you get for the pound on the open market?

Hard to implement, unless you wave the restriction on number of Hero's, Specials and Rares, as you won't know what your partner is taking until you are paired up. The only way I can see to get around that is to have people construct their lists on the day, which is time consuming.
I personally can't see what the problem is with teaming up in advance. We should know fairly quickly how many players we're going to have, working out who wants to team up with who after that should be easy enough.

Steve; Warren says that you draw first then write a list so you can sort out troop types afterwards

As Carl says this could be done before the day.

I prefer to pre-arrange partnerships that way you can build your armies to each others strengths etc. Just the way the GW event works.
So far onboard we have:
Paul Darrell Mike Steve David Warren - Maybe
So, 2 (3) more spaces left to make this an event, after 8 players have signed, we will need blocks of 4 more to make it work, so if you are interested sign up now.
Warren: The currency of bragging is obvious. Working at a school you should know what it's like in the playground "We beat you, na, na, na"

It seems that people would prefer a mini-tournament over a Legendary Battle game; that's fine by me (less work on my part ;D ).
I would put my name down for this, as I'd be interested in taking part, but with Steve already having his name down, I will have to run a 40k Apocalypse game if there is enough interest (seeing as that was one of the original ideas for this all-day thing).
So if there's a game of Apocalypse, then I can't play, otherwise I'd more than certainly be up for it.

Can I register an interest. I need to see if any FoW is going on that day, if not I'm in (I'll know by Tues). I'm very green and could be used as a handicap to anyone that everyone else hates ;D
