I'm really looking at Davinder here to perhaps organise a 40K league. This will done on the similar lines as we do the SFS WFB trophy.
First up I will need to see the potential players and what 40K army you play.
If there are any people interested in such a venture could you please make yourself known and your viable army. As you probably guessed I am not organising this but just here to prod one or two to make this happen. To be fair not much in the way of competition between the 40K players has actually happened over the last few years so I thought it would be a good idea to get them together. I wouldn't say its dead but it seems to played less and less lately - let's give it a rear end kick start!

I would be up for it and maybe a 40k tournie in the future - I have Imperial Guard. Although personally have struggled to play 40k due to all the other things going on!

Even if its a small league of 5 or 6 players it would be just a nice thing to bring the 40K players together - I take it that would be playing rather than organise James? I would normally but as 40K isn't my bag I really wouldn't be able to contribute much here.

I would be interested in playing.
I have a mixture of Imperial forces and can field either Guard, Marines or Inquisition/Grey Knights (depending on how many points are available).

Brilliant idea Warren.
I would be more than happy to participate in this 40K banaza.
As to organizing it..... Well, I will tentatively put my name forward. But am more than happy to let someone else take the bull by the horns on this one.
I of course will be using Necrons. So may the best Man, machine win.
P.S. I’ve just PM'd Steve to see if he can add a new forum board under the 'Competitions/Leagues' section so that at least this thing (in what ever form it chooses to take) can have a place to call home.

I'm happy to throw my hat in the ring to run the league. I've played a heck of a lot of 40K over the years and many, many leagues so can bring a lot to the table.
May even be able to bring some of the Kettering boys over for a go.

Just to make it perfectly clear that this is not a drop in drop out league. If you are in for the first few games then you are in for the whole lot. We have had a few people shying off the last few games in various leagues, and I don't want it to be become common place. If you have games to play then please play them as there is nothing so frustrating than waiting 2 months to get a game in.
I would envisage a league of 8 players to keep it more manageable.

Absolutely - get the games in and no excuses as to why not. That's how leagues should be run, and as Davinder will testify to I have no issue with kicking people up the backside to 'encourage' them to get their games in.

I took the liberty of drawing up a draft rulespack as a way of showing how this could work. It should be attached to this post but if you'd prefer an emailed copy then PM me with an email address. What do you reckon? Attachments:

Just a couple of things Ben.
1) Really this should have been to sent to me prior to being set on the forum as there are a few issues I have with it - even though I don't play 40K.
2) Issues as followed i) For all in house tournaments - they should all be played in house. So no games should be played outside of the Scout Hall. ii) You have mentioned that players should play each other twice - this is a bad idea with 8 players - we struggle with one match each at 10 in the SFS league. iii) Not keen on people vamping up their lists with special characters but I suppose this is fine with stipulation in place, however they should be from codexes and not from WD or forgeworld as this is really open to abuse. There are some entrants that may not have access to these lists or stats. Which in my opinion is unfair. iv) Changing lists half way into the league doesn't sound right at all. If you start with a list then you finish with said list. v) Proxy models - not a fan of this we want to put the image across that we know what we are doing. This could potentially be open to abuse. Plastic toy rhinos for carnifex's or Megatron as a dreadnought etc. If they don't have the models or cannot borrow them then they can't have them. The only exception would be a scratch build or nearest dammit.
Apart from that everything else looks rather good.
Although I am the events-coordinator here I am only just one voice so others must also comment on the rulespack so that I ascertain which parts you must rewrite for this - if at all. If others wish this to be as such then ok. However issue number one cannot be reversed.

i think for future it would be best to post asking for a volunteer to run anything the club is looking to do rather than unofficially nominate someone as this could put undue pressure on said person.
cheers

Sorry Warren - given it was at the draft stage I thought it would be OK to get input from everyone at the same time.
Will redraft later with the points raised.
As I say, at this stage it's just a case of trying to see how everyone feels. If all games have to be played at Phoenix then I absolutely agree, playing each other twice is going to take way too long.
There was some chat at Kettering about letting people use proxies at the start. They ruled against it there, I just wanted to see what everyone here felt.

@ Carl - read first post. I may have said Davinder by name as a possible however did ask for a volunteer afterwards. As Ben has taken this by the horns I think this is a moot point.
