Shieldwall uses 33% as a limit, as well as 50% or 25% - sometimes in the same army list, so a number easily divisible by 3 is good.
While 100pts will barely buy you 3 Norman Milites it can also get you 25 sling armed skirmishers. So the plan at the moment is to stick with the 1500 recommended by the book.
Since every battle you can make up a different army from your list if you want to then this can be reviewed either way if / when the new army book is published.
I must admit I was planning to use the appropriate scenery generation tables from the book as well as certain situation based terrain as the battles in this period often featured more terrain than the classical period
I don't mind people making suggestions as it is always interesting to see what other people think. Once I have a version I am happy with I will also ask everybody who plans to play in the campaign for comments.

you certainly are mate, but lets wait till it is ready then ask questions, or maybe PM Simon rather than discuss stuff on here before anything 'official' is out

Saxon Build update...
So here is my 1500 point saxon army which has cost just £36.00 finally thanks to plastic ebay and my bits cuboard - one box of gripping beast Thegns and 2 or wargames factory fyrd ebayed plus some bases, old rohan and a few warlord celts from my cupboard.
Eorl to lead army and Thegns 1(converted from Thegns box £11.50 from ebay) - Bought and built Ealdorman BSB to lead Thegns 2 (converted from Thegns box) - Bought and Built Ealdorman to lead Ceorls 1 (converted from Thegns/ceorls box) - Bought and Built Ealdorman to lead Ceorls 2 (converted from Thegns/ceorls box) - Bought Ealdorman mounted to lead mounted Thegns (converted from Riders of Rohan from my cupboard) - Done/ 7 mounted Thegns (converted from Riders of Rohan from my cupboard) - Built 20 Thegns 1 (from gripping beast Thegns box)- Bought and built 20 Thegns 2 (from gripping beast Thegns box) - Bought and built 27 Ceorls 1 (from fryrd box - ebay 13.00 new buy it now and free Pand p!) - Bought 27 Ceorls 2 (from fryrd box) - ebay (11.50 plus free p and p this time!) - Bought 8 Geburs with bows (from fyrd box) - Bought 8 Geburs with slings (converted Warlord celts from my cupboard). - Built
All units have LA+ shield, full command and all Thegns have Javelins.
Have to say I am finding the wargames factory ceorls to be nicer models than I thought but way harder to build - too many parts, at this rate I'll be lucky to have built let alone painted an army for January.

Doesn't happen to be Wargames factory as I just had a sneak peek at the Persians, as I was looking for some Colchian stand ins? This is very multipart and I closed the box quickly saying "hmmmm maybe when I have some free time".

Yes Warren it is wargames factory. Nice models but much longer to build than Warlords plastics because they have seperate weapons from the arms which makes them more timeconsuming to build plus the nexts are too long for the sockets on the bodies so am having to drill out or cut down.
I am with you Colin on the metals but have to say though I would never have afforded this army in metal. If I get Huscarls they will be metal from griping beats.
I will get these built by the the time I go back to school I hope but painting may not get done until the Axes and Axis event makes it a priority. I have some bolt action paras and a testudo I really fancy painting and building first.
Simon if you run a WAB campaign do I have to have a painted force - I will try and make it work in progress?

I know most people down the club tend to prefer painted, me personally I am happy with whatever works as long as it is clear what is what. After all Brian and I once tested out the Warhammer Historical WWI rules using unpainetd aifrix figures blu-tacced on to unpainted circular cardboard bases.
On the subject of the campaign I will say that I have the new armylist book and I am evaluating it use no - but at the moment we will stick with Shieldwall for this.

Well nearly finished painting my Mangler Squigs - they are horrendous to do! Not sure if they are quite right to be honest - they look a little odd but passable on the table I suppose. As for the Jason stuff I have finished Talos, Medea, Hercules and the two harpies I'm looking to put the argonauts together now and sort the tree - skellies shouldn't take long. The hydra will have to have a little more thought about it though. Have you got any spare Greek shield transfers for the skellies?
