Is anyone else playing this?
If so, do you fancy trying an online campaign?

Kieron I make get this in the near future but I do have other Total War games these are Total war shogun, TW medieval (1) and Viking Invasion expansion, Rome Total War plus the expansions Barbarian Invasion and Alexander. I also have Medieval 2 Total War and the expansion Kingdoms. I haven't yet been able to cope on to Empire or Napoleon as yet I have other things to pay for at the mo. However if you have any of the others and want to set up an online game / campaign, I would be happy to give it a go. I know other people at the club such as Gavin (I believe) also has Rome TW, as does Robert and Edmund. Stephen had a Total War game (not sure which) and so did Carl.
If you want to arrange a weekend of online play then we have to make our own little clan (I think) with passwords etc.... It is possible to have large games (doubles) but the only problem that some may have is the lag time. Mine sometimes has a bit of lag especially if I am accidentally still on the Net. People in the know (or not) advise to switch off the Internet (doh so how do you play online idiots!), switch off all firewalls and virus protactors etc, all other unecessary programmes to get a better flow for the game. I'm not that happy about going on line without security to be honest and you will probably find these "advisors" have viruses swamped all over their machines.
If you want to talk more and drum up some interest other the next few months then ok, but I do think my CPU may not be able to handle it. These are the stats for the computer for this game given minimum requirements
Minimum:
OS:Microsoft® Windows Vista®/XP®/Windows® 7 Processor: 2.3 GHz CPU with SSE2 Memory: 1 GB RAM (XP), 2 GB RAM (Vista®/Windows® 7) Graphics: 256 MB DirectX® 9.0c shader model 2b compatible GPU DirectX®: DirectX® 9.0c Hard Drive: 15 GB free space Recommended:
OS: Microsoft® Windows Vista®/XP®/Windows® 7 Processor: 2.6 GHz Dual Core CPU Memory: 2 GB RAM (XP), 4 GB RAM (Vista®/Windows® 7) Graphics: 256 MB DirectX® 9.0c shader model 3 compatible GPU DirectX®: DirectX® 9.0c Hard Drive: 15 GB free space Internet connection required for product activation
I can handle most of this except for the 2.3ghz on the min computer - I have 1.8 Ghz but dual core so I believe that equates to 1.8 x2 ability (correct me Stephen if I'm wrong!) Not too sure what the SSE2 is all about but I reckon it has something to do with streaming, as this would replace MMX if this was the case, don't know what I have exactly. However I'm doing slightly better on the Vid Card having upgraded to a 512mb (with its own little fan) so this is a bonus (thanks Mum!).
Tell me what you have apart from Empire and Napoleon - we could possible have a go when I eventually get it (birthday at the end of May .... or sooner if I get any spare cash and I find one on the net going for a silly price (downwards silly!)

Whats it like Kieron? - I thought Empire was a bit buggy but if they have sorted that out I would be up for a go.
Cheers

When I had the Rome TW and Medieval 2 TW I had to go to the main TW site and download TW endorsed bug fixers and patches. Is this the same for Empire as this was a real drag. My Medieval 2 TW now shuts down to desktop when I have Timurid elephants attacking any castles. Apparently no bug for this.
It may be a good idea Stephen to add another forum for Computer wargaming Total War and World War 2 franchises, after all we are mostly a wargames club - no matter how the wargame is played.

Empire was a little buggy, but the've sorted that out now.
Napolean has been great from day one! No bugs, good AI, and a great solo campaign following Napoleons career.
Plus you now get the 'Campaign Multiplayer' which allows to play a limited campaign over one of the many Theatres of war. (Italy, Eygpt, & Europe)
As for the other Total Wars, ive got all of them. my favourites being Rome and Medieval 2.

I must get a battle up with you for Rome Total War - but will figure how to do this as I need to get on line with it and I believe I forgot my password (if there was one). Do you still have to "set up" terrain for this or is it just a random choice?
What faction do you usually play as I usually play Seleucid, Carthage, Greeks or Thracians.
I have played Gauls once but got bored... I then played Roman Julii but it was ridiculously easy even on Hard- these guys were being allowed nearly 3 units per round made up if you had the right buildings - so whenever one of your stacks got crushed there was always another to take its place. Hmmmm historical I think!
