Hi
Just finished painting up all my Wood elves but realised my Eagles are on flying bases - what size square base should they have? and does anyone have one or two I could have/buy as I need one for the Rumble asap.
Cheers
Also painted all but 2 dwarf war machines and 10 hammerers so no one playing me at fantasy in the future need face an unpainted army! Sadly WAB is another matter...too many unpainted romans at present but thats for another day

Warren I think I will go with 40mm as this is what is on the last official base size/unit size sheet I have seen - I hope thats fair. Can I have that base this Tuesday? Thanks

An Eagle sits on a 50mm base/Monster base. Or at least my Wood Elf Eagle does and my mate's High Elf Eagle does.
Warhawks are on the 40mm ones.

Personaly, I would say a Great Eagle goes on a 40mm base, too.
It is classed as a monster, but not a large target and therefore surely should be on the same size base as Minotaurs, Ogres, warhawks etc...

Hmm if they are packed with 50 mm bases and it has recently changed according to warseer with back-up form the GW Northampton lads then really it should be this. There won't be much difference in close combat with 20mm based infantry troops. there would be four troops if you were 40mm (two direct and two corners) and four would just cover all the positions on a 50mm base. In other words you would still get the same attacks back. However against something like orcs or lizardmen on 25mm bases you would have a distinct advantage on a 40 mm base. In this case only 3 could get into contact with you while 4 could if the eagle was on a 50mm base (two direct and two corners). Imagine these were frenzied savage orcs with additional choppas and carrying Nogg's Banner of Butchery - you could deny them 4 attacks on you (or five if it was the boss)! Advantage with a 50mm base is more of an arc of charge - well a little more.

Ah are you actually having withdrawal symptons from painting zulus? I have just the remedy for you if you want - still another 100 or so to do! Lots of round bases!
