I know its still a LONG way off, but time has a habit of wizzing by when you least expect it.
I noticed last year the club did a Xmas Sat/meal thing.
Any thoughts about doing Christmas themed game?
I.E.;
Wings of War - 'It will all be over by Christmas' Flight. each side gets to escort the 'Prezzie Plan'
WFB - Storming of the Winter Hold... maybe Huge battle type thing
FoW - 'All i want for Xmas is my two front Tigers'... ' or ... Battle of Bulge on Ice...'
40K - Ice Planet Zebra-return of the raindeer!
WAB - 'Star from the East' or 'Ivictus Santus!'
You can see where im going with this. Just thought i'd get the ball rolling...
Kieron
P.S. I vote indian for Chritsmas meal....

Do they do chicken and chips in a basket etc at the bowling place?
I don't think I'd be able to play bowling with what has happened to my hand - but I'll give it a go - hopefully it would have fully healed by then.
As for the games
"the Great Escape" - 40K game where orks on bikes are busting out of an Imperialist concentration camp.
Bloodbowl xmas trench game
Christmas tree havoc - wood elves get annoyed when Bretonnians cut down a few fir trees!
Kiss of death under the missile-tow - 40K game (have a bit of imagination...)
You could make up a new magic lore...
1) Xmas pudding flambe - 5+ to cast Caster throws a xmas pudding drenched in alcohol into an enemy unit a does D6 strength 3 flaming attacks. Range 18 inches.
2) Xmas morning nausea - 6+ to cast Cast on any unengaged unit - They would automatically feel as if they had gone a whole night drinking with dwarves and are now so nauseous they are at half strength and movement. Remains in play.
3) Ice bolts of Santa - 7+ to cast Ice shards or bolts hit an unengaged enemy causing 2D6 - D6 +1 strength. Range 24 inches.
4) Xmas gifts - 8+ to cast Cast on an enemy unit within 8 inches- they are so overcome with the joys of xmas that they give you all their weapons as gifts - including magical ones. If other magical items are in the unit the enemy unit must roll a leadership. If they pass their leadership they don't care much for xmas and become scroodges - you get nothing here.
5) Its your round: 10+ cast When cast on a friendly unit within 6 inches even in close combat - the unit will disappear very quickly and reappear on a table edge using the scatter dice.
6) Ghosts of Xmas past: 12 + to cast The wizard will cast a D6 on every enemy model in each unit. On a 5+ each model receives a wound with no armour saves allowed as they are visited by visions of past misdemeanors and are so wrapped in guilt that they commit suicide. Units on any sacred ground are protected. For example wood elves in woods.
Hmmm definately too much time on my hands!

Some of these games do not lend well to Christmas games, people tend to take them too seriously, not everyone Nose the rules, and they take a lot of time to prepare and to play.
I would prefer a game where a lot of people can join in at once, and are not on 2 different sides, maybe all on all. These seem to be the sort of game that lends to the spirit of the season (although not aloud for those under 18)

Or is it because you couldn't bear to have your stegadons pulling santa in a sleigh. Imagine all the red and white! ;D

For Xmas Games, I personally prefer the games where everyone can get involved together.
This would mean either a games system that everyone knows, or a system with easy rules to pick up(or no rules)
Also it should not be considered a competitive game, ie 1 side against another (although this could cause the traditional Xmas punch up)
Things like a big game of Munchkin with as many sets of cards as we can lay our hands on, or Toon, Or Paranoia could be considered an Xmas Game.
This is just my opinion from Xmases past. WFB/40k etc, take too much set up for huge games, and dont always get everyone involved together.

BTW, I have nothing against the ideas above as such, but think it would be better if we could get people involved in one big one off game, with as little preparation as possible. A more relaxed approach for the time of year.

FYI - my suggestions were just jokes. Don't take everything so seriously David.
