To all of you who attended over the weekend my thanks go out to you for helping out at another great success for Phoenix.
with the amount of people through the marquee over the 2 days we may yet pick up some new members.
special thanks go to Julie for making the excellent food for saturday evening, Kieran for the catering on Saturday, and also to Jon, who painted up half the Celts but could not attend.
if anyone has any comments about the event, and ideas for next year please feel free to use this as a sounding board.
cheers, and thanks again

Yes totally agree. Hope everybody that stayed Saturday had a better sleep on Sunday night. Great sarnies Kieron!
For next year I would consider that people have a few smaller sized boards 6x4 - as we did. Smaller board, longer game, great entertainment....
Next year if I do consider Rorkes Drift or some other Zulu based table I would only go for a 6x4. However, an Alexandrian battle (Gaugemala, Issus, Granicus) then a large table would be needed.
I would totally agree with Simon in that our Thermopylae scenario actually panned out how it alledgedly happened in real life. We just needed one more day.
I may think of doing something totally different, perhaps a Ancient Greek naval battle or even Chaeronia with Macedonians vs Allied Greek / Athenian States / Theban Sacred Band. Ah well a year to decide.

what a weekend well done to everyone who contributed in making it a truly momentus event for the phoenix. special thanks should go to julie for the food jon for his wonderfully painted celts but most of all for carl who has once again masterminded the event organisation. as for the tables i think they all looked terrific as for next year after talking to the guys from warlord games have expressed a intrest in running a BIG game of the battle of naseby as next year is its 400th anniversery they would provide the figures and the terran but thats next year they have my details and they will be keeping in touch once again well done to all who contributed and thank you for your assistance

naseby was 1645 i'm afraid so the 400th is not for a while yet.
i have sent thank you emails to warlords, perrys, EH, renedra, W.I., fantasy flight for all their help, and Gareth at warlords is going to contact me about bringing a large demo ECW game to the club one night.
thanks again

I have to say, that having run many events over the years with GW, I was slightly nervous of a possible 'creche' situation, but thankfully it was one of the most enjoyable gaming 'into' weekends I've done.
The Flames of War table, after a few tweeks to the Germans, ran really well all weekend, with an average of one game per hour, and at least four participants, and at one point we had over a dozen people playing, with family/friends watching.
Andy and Roddy did so well, they may well get a cross... or that could just be cross...
Glad I took part, can't wait to beat Carls' Royalists next year with the help from our friends at Warlords.

thanks Kieran.
you beat me twice yesterday so the 'Kings' men (no pun intended.. well maybe a little bit) will be back for revenge at Naseby next year and earlier in downtown Rushden, as soon as they bring out the cavalry.
