Liam,
A couple of weeks ago you mentioned that B&Q wood stain was a good alternative to the shade dip.
Is it possible you could let me know which shade you use, please? As I think this is going to be easier to get hold of than the "proper" stuff.
Thanks, Jon
Oh, and I hope the exam goes well on Friday!!

Heh... I'm sitting here doing my best to procrastinate about my revision... not really a good sign, is it. I purchased the B&Q (Rosewood) Indoor Satin Varnish as recommended by www.dysartes.com/model/painting/Dipping1.php (it's in a tin with a green 'speech bubble' on it and the barcode should read 0320 3675). If I recall correctly, for the same size pot of Army Shader, it costs around £5, and is also available in larger quantities (at a cheaper price per ml). An alternative would be Ronseal Quick Drying (Walnut satin), at a similar cost but that will require thinning with water. I've yet to try it out myself, but that's because I've stopped all model assembling and painting until after my exam; I'll be giving it a try some time in the next week.
