That's what I get for spending so much time not in the main hall over the summer, I don't even notice new members.

GREAT NEWS: the free stuff from Perry's turned up today and good to their word there are 10 boxes of 36 infantry, 2 boxes of 12 cavalry, several guns and crew plus command units for each side.
cracking result to be honest, and i have sent them a thank you email, and once again asked if they would like to join us next year.
darrell; you may want to start thinking up a rule set for this, although as they seemed to work well for the Boer table this year maybe you could use those with maybe tweaking those a bit. there are some basic rules with each box etc and maybe you could incorporate those with some of our own.
i will bring the stuff down next weds rather than sat'y so we dont get too distracted away from the 40k battle, and so that everyone can see the models etc.
i await news from Warlord Games.

darrell; you may want to start thinking up a rule set for this, although as they seemed to work well for the Boer table this year maybe you could use those with maybe tweaking those a bit. One problem I encountered on the Boer War table this year is that one player who, despite being only around 10 years of age was well versed in the Boer War, complained that the rules for the "Repeater Pistols" were highly out of character for the weapons of the period. Enthusiastic gamers writing "cool" rules for a historic wargame will always cause problems when you do participation games for history buffs. As a result of this, I would highly recommend that instead of continuing with the ruleset we used this year, we find an existing ruleset and use that. This also gets around the fact that I felt highly uncomfortable when we sold a copy of the rules to an interested observer, despite the fact that the rules are based on an existing company's product and we had no right selling them.

who sold them, and for how much? did the money go into club funds? if anything we should have 'given' them a set or asked for an email address to send them on to.
there are several ACW rule sets out there but we must keep them simple, which is why we wrote our 'own' so to speak.
