Trophies ordered today and we have R.J. Smith and son sponsoring the Bloodthirster trophies for the Rushden Rumble 2016. A massive thank you to them for this. Remember if you do need trophies, or your shoes redone or your locks / new keys cut pop down and seen them in Hamblin court Rushden. They have supported the club on quite a few occasions so I think it would be a good turn for us to show them some business. Just to remind people that the tournament is a doubles tournament but TPs are counted in a singles roster. However there will be two of each in terms of winners etc... they will not necessarily come from the initial team. So on offer for prize trophies at the Rushden Rumble is as follows - x2 - Champions trophies x2 - Runners up trophies x2 - third place trophies x1 - Best painted force (voted by peers) x2 - I got Thunderstomped awards (losers medals) x2 -Bloodthirster trophies (sponsored by R.J. Smith and son) x1 -Best Surviving Giant award X1 -Best painted Giant (Voted by TOs) award X1 -Too many Jacks! (worst Giant survivor) award X1 -Best sports award
plus a few spot prizes for the following. I am going to record these now as last year I completely forgot round two and had to make up two spots for round three. So now they are set.
Round 1 - First Giant to club away (deter) the Dragon Round 2 - First player whose unit / model kills a Giant. Round 3 - First Giant to turn against his fellow attackers.
I hope that's enough to wet the appetite and who knows we may even have some other prizes (fingers crossed). Hopefully this might tempt other people that have not signed up!!

The second scenario has been tried and tested so this needs no additions/ errata. However we had a go at the 3rd scenario "SURROUNDED" and a found a few problems - hence this is why we playtest. So I have corrected and added a little errata into the scenario pack which has been added above in word or PDF form.
Intially when we set up we realised that the attackers were way to close to the defenders and this would cause problems for 1) the Defenders on the centre point and for the attackers with potential flanking relief forces. So we have marked out the start point for attackers as being 6 inches in and not 12 inches. Those with deeper units can still deploy, even the back of unit is hanging over the edge.
Next correction was with the Giant he should only test for his happiness if is unengaged in combat. A slow witted beast cannot contemplate the vagaries of coin while in combat. Also the giant would attack initially in the attackers phase if a one was rolled and THEN be in the control of the defenders for their rounds from then on. If he can't see anyone to initially charge then he will just move into position so that he can in the defenders turn. All Giants are worth no points except the "turncoat" mercenary giants which are worth 250pts to the attackers only.

I had to adjust one as we had two lizardmen facing off each other. I try to keep like armies apart for round one but its all fair game rounds 2 and 3 - you have been warned Please don't forget your giants - I have two or three spare on a first ask first borrow premiss. Interesting to note that there are three Bretts and Lizardmen combos!

Well what a brilliant day! I must say that I was really pleased with the fantastic positive attitude from everyone that came. It was a credit to the gaming scene. There was one small blight which I have rectified and that is one cell in the excel results sheet did not have a formula in it and did not register a total score for Rene Hawes on his sports. He has been informed and I will extend the apology here. He actually came joint third which pushed Will Stacey into fourth. As I ran the tournament I will be giving my third place trophy to Rene. You really shouldn't be winning things in your own tournament (its bad form). So scores on the doors: 1) Ian Norris - WoC - 69pts +1575 vp diff 1) Rob Smith - Lizardmen -67pts +2163 vp diff 2) Adam Holmwood -Skaven 66pts +1609 vp diff 2) Luke Whitehead -Lizardmen 64pts +1676 vp diff 3) Rene Hawes - Daemons 63pts +1762 vp diff 3) Warren Stevens - O and G 63pts +836 vp diff 4) Will Stacey - O and G 62pts +1213 vp diff 4) Justin Easby – Ogres 62 pts +1121 vp diff 5) Tim Bohknecht -Beastmen 61pts +1967 vp diff 5) Andrew Cochrane – Empire 61pts +1760 vp diff 6) Julie Stevens – Dark Elves – 61pts +682vp diff 6) Ethan Tai – Lizardmen -61pts +535 vp diff 7) Ben Dunford – O and G 61pts +339 vp diff 7) Stef McGlen - Ogres 60pts +324 vp diff 8) Wesley Vickers –Undead Legions 59pts -168vp diff 8) Andy Bettney –Host of Aestyrion 58 pts +54vp diff 9) Adam Cochrane – Ogres 58pts -270vp diff 9) Andrew Hogan – High Elves 56pts -323vp diff 10) Hugh Dartington – WoC 55pts -475vp diff 10) Dale Needham – Bretonnians 55pts -647vp diff 11) Max Halford – Dark Elves 53pts -903vp diff 11) Nathan Easby – Empire 49pts -1856vp diff 12) Jonathan Humpage – Tomb Kings 48pts -905vp diff 12) Paul Whitehead – Bretonnians 47pts -1289vp diff 13) Jon Cooper – Lizardmen 45pts -1693 vp diff 13) Mark Peat –High Elves 42pts -2199vp diff 14) Alex Hogan – Empire 41pts -2383 vp diff (free in next year) 14) Craig Wilson – Bretonnians 39pts -2675 vp diff (free in next year)
Best painted Force Top 4 : Voted by their peers. 1) Wesley Vickers Undead Legions– 40 point votes 2) Max Halford Dark Elves – 28 point votes 3) Andy Cochrane Empire – 27 vote points (close) 4) Will Stacey – Orcs and Goblins – 18 vote points Best Sports – Dale Needham – Bretonnians Best painted Giant 1st place : John Humpage 2nd place : Andy Bettney Worthy mentions – Ben Dunford, Will Stacy, Wes Vickers and Andy Cochrane. Bloodthirster awards – Max Halford 8551 vps for and against and Alex Hogan 8085 vps for and against. Thanks to RJ Smith and son of Rushden for sponsoring these two trophies.
Special thanks to Pete Melvin who gave up his Saturday to do all the scores for us as I was playing. Without him this could have gone south. Cheers mate!
Also thanks to Kromlech for the prizes we gave out.
Things to think about for next year: We will be doing 9th Age! We hope to extend the game timings. The door in the toilet which kept on banging will be reported and will be fixed. It should be suggested that people read the scenarios well beforehand and PM or email me if they have questions. I really should not play and T.O. - it can be very taxing and things can get missed. I had to step in as a last minute emergency to ensure people got their games.
Please watch this space for the Charity singles match up in October - it will be awesome! Last year we raised a surprising £300+ with only 12 people there. Imagine if we could fill the room with twice as many! There will only be 24 places for this one and we will be looking for painted donations to put on the auction to raise the money. I have a few thoughts about which charity we will raise for and I have my eye on a worthy cause.
