Not much off the voting poll but lots of pms and emails to push for 8th edition for this tournament.
The Phoenix Gaming Club will hold the Rushden Rumble 2016 at the Rushden Scout Hall (our HQ).
This will be our 6th Rumble and it has been well supported by people old and new!
It is by far one of the cheapest one dayer tournaments for WFB and you will have fun!!!
When : Saturday 5th March 2016 please arrive at 8.45 am to register – Early start 1st game 09.15
Where : The Rushden Scouts Hall, Brooke Close behind Orbit Tyres which is on Skinners Lane Rushden NN10 OXH.
What: This is a Warhammer Fantasy Battles Doubles Tournament. You arrive with 1200pts of your army and your initial partner does the same. Yes we have heard your comments and will up this to 1200pts so that you can play with more toys!
You both have one mercenary giant each (free points). You play round one against your opponents. Then you are all swapped about randomly... however you never know who you will team up or face until the last round has finished. This provides enough intrigue and surprise factor to keep everyone guessing. The doubles scores are fed into a singles result table and treated as such. Whatever you score so does your partner at the time. So basically as last year and this is a format that has been applauded so why change it. The only changes will be the scenarios although I have brought an old one back.
There are three scenarios which are really fun to play - having tested them out. Although it is best to read them first have a few practice runs yourself, rather than arrive not reading anything and therefore slowing the game down for your opponents. Remember this is a tournament for fun players who wish to try out something different. Yep the scenarios are barking mad and I will not apologise for them! Some may be subject to small tweaks after further practice matches so please keep an eye on any errata.
Will will run with errata 1.9 with 50% Lords and 50% heroes (if you wish)... at these points you are not going to get much! Also the Lore of Undeath is available to all wizards again an optional choice. If raising new undead units you must have the appropriate models and numbers to do so. I won't put up with stone trolls masquerading as Crypt Horrors or Vargheists (unless they have been converted) - so WYSIWYG these also.
Also in addition we will be also allowing just four End times roster armies, namely Undead legions, Legions of Chaos, Host of Aestyrion, and Host of the Phoenix King. However a stipulation is that Undead legions cannot pair up with TK or VC, although the latter two can pair up with each other. In addition Legions of Chaos cannot pair up with WoC, Daemons, or Beastmen. Neither can the Hosts of Aestyrion and the Phoenix King team up with any elves with wood elves being the exception for the Hosts of Aestyrion as suspicious allies.
Any summoning using the lore of undeath is limited to two units and you must have the appropriate models! Remember that no named characters are permitted so no you can't run around with Tyrion, Grimgor, Mannfred, Teclis, Archaon et al. (however I doubt the points allocations would cover them).
I have added 5 mins to the second and third rounds so that you can get to know your new partner and go through the scenario to gauge your best course of action.
Price: £15 for initial team (£7.50 each). £16 (£8 each) per initial team if paying via Paypal to paypal use warren.s66@virginmedia.com
A slight increase due to the increase in hall hire fees. Still one of the cheapest days out.
You can pay Stephen Mawson the £15 via Cash or Cheque on club nights. Cheques are payable to Phoenix Gaming Club. Address in the rules pack.
PLEASE NOTE:
If you have paid and find yourself in a situation that you cannot come then please be advised that no refunds will be available after the 6th February 2015. We have to pay for the Hall and order trophies in advance. However if you can find a replacement for yourself after this time then you would have to sort out these monies (sell your ticket to recoup). Just let me know who would replace you.
