The room is now booked for the 27th of September.
That gives everyone about a month to get their armies worked out and if possible painted.
We'll start to look at who will be playing on what sides and working out points per side in the next few weeks. If anyone else wants to join in with the game can they let either me or Liam know.

Okay ladies and gentlemen, we now have a date and I'm back in the country; thus I'm stepping up the pace. Over the next few weeks I shall make myself available at all club meetings. The purpose of this is so that I can discuss the upcoming game with the players and so that potential players can even make enquiries to joining. Part of the discussions will include the composition of the player's army, what datasheets they will be taking, what Strategic Asset they will take and their final army list. I will be bringing along, and thus making available to players without access to them, the following books at each weekly meeting from now until the event: - Warhammer 40,000 Apocalypse
- Warhammer 40,000 Apocalypse Reload
- Imperial Armour: Apocalypse
- Imperial Armour One: Imperial Guard & Imperial Navy
- Imperial Armour Two: Space Marines & Forces of the Inquisition
- Imperial Armour Three: The Taros Campaign
- Imperial Armour Four: The Anphelion Project
- Imperial Armour Five: The Siege of Vraks Part One
- Imperial Armour Six: The Siege of Vraks Part Two
I will require all players to have the following done by the end of the club meeting on Wednesday 24th of September: - Picked an army list, and handed a copy to me
- Picked their Strategic Asset
- Given me contact details, so I can contact them in case they are late on the day of the event
Between now and the club meeting on Wednesday 17th of September I will be producing a handout detailing everything that a player will need to know regarding this game, including the rules amendments. I'll hand out a copy to each player and make the file available online in case anyone loses their copy.

Woah - this is a bit over my head being just a WFB player - i realise that Steve is going to help out with my list - well actually doing my list and loaning me the models, but I have no conception of what strategic asset is etc...
Am I just jumping in at the deepend as a 40K noob?

Nah, it's okay Warren. A Strategic Asset is an Apocalypse only thing, and I'll discuss it in depth with you when we have our chat. It's nothing to worry about at all. Since you are loaning him the models, Stephen, I suppose I'll have to have "Warren's" chat with you both together

The room itself is booked from 10am through to 5pm, which gives us gaming time of from about 10:30am through to around 4:30pm.
As it don't think I've posted this up on the board it will cost £4 a head for people to attend this event, which is pretty good value considering you're looking at 6 hours of gaming.

Can't see any problems with that Carl. All you'd need to do is speak to Liam in order to sort out a Strategic Asset for your army and any formations you might be using. Otherwise it's the more the merrier really.
An Apocalypse game doesn't have to be exactly balanced in terms of points as a difference of a thousand or two when you're playing a 20,000 point plus is neglible, so there is little need to worry about unbalancing the sides.
One or two of our players have an awful lot of points of stuff anyway, so it'd be easy for some of us to expand our armies a bit to compensate anyway.

Hi Liam Owing to the fact that Julie has to work that day she will not be able to come so that door has opened up for Carl. I would come myself but having two children to keep an eye on too would be a bit much and unfair on the other players if they became a little rowdy due to me being absorbed into the game. Kids as you well know bore easily and a whole day of being stuck in the scout hall would be like a 6 hour detention for them. I have exhausted all kidsitting avenues and need to "power up" again for a few months before asking relatives again. So regretably I am going to have to decline the offer to attend - which is a real shame. Sorry

Carl - that's not a problem at all to join in. I'll come and have a word with you tonight about it. I've added you to the list with a nominal amount of 2000 points. Warren - that's a shame to hear about that. I've taken you and Julie off of the list. Perhaps next time, eh? Stephen - done.

Right, I've updated my initial post to reflect the rules supplement I handed out last night. ANYONE who is playing would do well to go back and reread it since there are a couple of minor updates made since printing the supplements out.
Also updated is the list of participants; if you, or any of your friends listed, are in bold, then you will need to speak with me before the game.

Liam; how did you get on with the librarian search? also, do you think i could drop back to just using my army, which i have at 2220pts as with Steves it makes about 4000pts and i've only played 40k once or twice which were the last 2 gamesday tryouts and i think for me to get 4000pts worth of stuff done in a 10minute turn might be pushing it a bit and i will struggle just to sort my own stuff let alone another full army. sorry to be a pain but i dont want the turns being held up by me all the while. Steve; if Liam hasn't got a Librarian can i borrow one off you or a.n.other person for the day, or does anyone have one they want to sell.

Carl - I've not been able to find that Librarian, so I don't think I'll be able to make that trade Sorry chief. As to you using less troops, that's fine by me. I've amended the second post to reflect this. Darrell - that's fantastic! I only wrote that small amount of blurb as an afterthought. If people would like to write up background for their army and how it fits in to this battle, then that'd be great. I'd like to see if we can write a co-authored battle report and post it on the club's website (with photos and everything) and player-written background would be great for this. To everyone - The numbers listed in the second post aren't binding - you can be over or under. They are there to allow me to gauge sides and try and get things balanced. If you want to add or remove a large amount of points (say 500 points or more) then please let me know. It's just so I can give everyone a fun game ;D
