I did a bit of wandering around at the club and the following people said they would want to take part in the Apocalypse game.
Julie Stevens Darrell Lee Brendan Lee (Space Marines) Robert Walker Edmund Dymott (Necrons + Imperial Guard) David Bettison Will Stock (Necrons)

If someone wants to lend me an army - if I don't have one by then you can count me in. I'll use it as a refreshed taster.

You're certainly welcome to use one of the armies that I'm not using.
I'd suggest either the Space Marines, or Chaos Marines as they're pretty easy to use and both ought to work well in the Apocalypse format.

Since I am tinkering with the idea of doing Space marines I feel this may be a good opportunity to learn properly and have a crash course into 40k (literally).

Not a problem. I have a pretty large number of space marines who are already painted and ready for action.
I've got about 2,500 points of stuff that's already painted, by the time we're expecting to hold this I should easily have 3,000 done as I've been meaning to paint up a few extra bits that I've got sitting around, and this is a good motivation to get me to actually do it.
The only thing I don't have is any Tanks, as my Space Marine army has been designed as a non heavy vehicle based chapter.

I've added the following people to the list. Julie Stevens Darrell Lee Brendan Lee (Space Marines) Robert Walker Edmund Dymott (Necrons + Imperial Guard) Will Stock (Necrons) For everyone except Brendan and Will, I'm going to need intended army/armies and intended points value; for Brendan and Will I'm just going to need intended points value. For Edmund, I'd like a decent explanation as to why Necrons and Imperial Guard are going to work together. Especially considering they are normally considered "hated enemies." Warren; can I confirm that you'd like to take part? If so, will you be using Stephen's Space Marines or Chaos Space Marines or perhaps someone else's models? If anyone can pass these messages on, I'd be immensely grateful. I understand that my lack of attending the weekly meets is curtailing this somewhat but I'll be back soon enough and be able to sort things out in person. None of this is overly urgent, but the sooner it gets done, the sooner we can move on to the next step of organising this, and thus closer to the game itself ;D Sadly, I'm not likely to be on the internet again until Tuesday the 19th of August, so if there are no updates here, please don't be surprised

That's not a problem Warren.
I'll try and make sure you've got a decent 3,000 point helping of Marines to work with.

Any heavy stuff - dreadnoughts etc??

I currently have just one Dreadnought, although it's armed with a Twin-linked lascannon and a Missile launcher, so high firepower. I've also got 4 devastator squads, two terminator squads, and all of my tactical units are packing a lascannon, so while the army isn't vehicle heavy it has a lot of firepower.

In terms of dates for this event, I've now heard back from the Scouts and most of the Saturdays in September are available.
My preference would be to hold the game on the 27th of September, as this will allow us to get Games Day out of the way, and gives Liam most of September to get the sides and such things as the strategic assets sorted out.
It also gives people the best part of two months to get figures stuck together and painted ready for the game.
If anyone can't make the 27th can they let me know quickly, as I'd like to book the hall within the next couple of weeks.

Okay, I've updated the player list to include Warren - welcome aboard ;-)
Stephen - the 27th of September should be fine for me, I can't think of anything which clashes, so if you can book it (assuming you've had no offline complaints over the date) that'd be great.
Also, I've noted that my use of "Lost and the Damned" has been altered by the forum filter (as it will likely have done in this post too). Amusing...
Finally, whilst not set in stone yet, as it won't be until I get back to England at the very earliest, can I assume that no-one has any further issues with the rules I've posted above?

Right, I'll book the 27th of September.
Edmund has told me he wants to use Guard and Space Marines. David has said he will be using Eldar Julie will be using Eldar Darrell will be doing Dark Angels (him and Brandon may field one combined army between them).
By the way I've adjusted your table of participants Liam to include this information.
It's looking like the sides are probably going to be Warren, Darrell, Brandon and Edmund vs Stephen, Liam, Will and probably Robert (assuming he's playing Orks) with the two Eldar players balancing up the sides.

So is that a dead cert for the 27th September? If so I'll put it into the calendar above. Any other dates and I will put those in as well - Gamesday and notice for army lists for the memorial trophy is on there.
