Kettering have invited us to a doubles match up with another club on Saturday the 31st May 2014.
We need a team of four (for the moment). Julie and I have already dibbed in.
I know that Darrell and Craig had vested an interest - could you please confirm your attendance now we that we have Warkton Hall?
As far as I know it won't be a club vs club thing more of an afternoon of getting to know each other. So as far as I know the club members will be mixed to create doubles teams. Sort of in the hat and see who comes out. There are four tables with the fifth one going to Paul and Simon for gaming ... so I'm wondering if we could get a few extra people for each club and make four teams. Currently 4 x 3 teams will give us 12 players. I would prefer to see the extra table used - but its not my call. I'll have a word with Alex over at Kettering.

Good so our team - regardless if we play together as one or get lumped into a free for all is
1) Darrell Lee 2) Julie Stevens 3) Craig Wilson 4) Warren Stevens
If you could let me know what you are playing and write up a "take all comers and pair up with anybody list" for 1000pts of WFB - cheers.
To be honest I could see us pairing up with all players in our team (if it was a team event). So for instance Darrell and myself would pair up for the first game and Julie and Craig for the second game. Then the second game it would be Darrell and Julie etc etc.. However not my call have to wait to see what Alex is organising.

Warren,
Is anything excluded from lists here (i.e. no special characters, banned magic items etc.)?
Craig.

I'm waiting for some info or rules pack from Kettering. I will let you know - alternatively you could just go to the Kettering Gaming Club website / forum and keep an eye on stuff there.

Ok I have had the final word from Alex and it is as follows.
All participants no matter what club they are from will be put into a hat and drawn for two teams (I think its two).
Each player should have a 1000pts with a minimum of three units not including characters. All magic from the winds of magic will be pooled as we do for the Rushden Rumble, a rule majorly overlooked by a lot of our participants that day - favouring the book's split advice.
09.00 - Arrival 09.30 - 11.45 game 1 11.45 - 12.30 Lunch 12.30 - 14.45 Game 2 14.45 - 15.05 Break (20 mins) 15.05 - 17.20 Game 2 17.20 onwards pack up...
This gives us 2 hrs and 15 mins each game which is a compromise.
All battles will be battleline.
Its a fun day out (or in whichever way you think about it) and all games will be conducted in the same manner. It will be interesting to see members from different clubs working together in a team. Whichever team wins then all clubs will be winners having at least one or two members in each.
So go write up your lists Phoenix chaps.

Well what a really relaxing day that was - no tension, no anxiety - just the way it should be. Thanks to Alex Jarosz from Kettering for the idea to get this done and all the other Kettering and Phoenix players that showed up. It was great to have the two clubs intermingle and have mixed club doubles teams. Great atmosphere - oh and if you ever get Ethan asking you to make you a cup of coffee - say yes please! Best cuppa I have had for a while. Thanks for that!
As there were just 4 on each club side it was a low key affair and we had two tables up (with the other one purely for historical jollies).
For the first game, table 1 we had Dark Elves and WoC Nurgle vs High Elves and WoC Khorne - DE and WoC just skimmed a win. For the first game, table 2 we had Goblins and Savage Orcs vs Lizardmen and Dwarfs - a massacre to the O and G combo! For the second game, table 1 had Savage orcs and Dwarfs vs a WoC nurgle and Woc Khorne combo - a surprising massacre to the Orcs and Dwarfs. For the second game, table 2 saw the DE team up with HE (surprise combo)vs Goblins and Lizardmen with the latter getting a win.
It wasn't all about winning any matches (though it helped) it was all about the smiles even when losing. Although you can't help smiling when the foot of Gork goes on a rampage - 7 times on the trot. Great day let's do it again later this year!
