Hi all,
Having just seen on TV that next year will be the 100th anniversary of WWI and that there will be four years of combined commemorative events, I thought it would be good to collect a small army for the period.
So, does anyone know of any good rules that have some sort of support, and dont just focus on trench warfare?
Regards
Kieron

I've got "Through the Mud and the Blood" by Two Fat Lardies (bought on a whim). Never gotten them to the table, though I have heard good things.

I have the Warhammer Historical rules and the supplement
I played them once -they seemed ok but I would need to play a few more times to be sure
There is also a Bolt Action WWI variant on the web
It might also be good to have a game like this for Kelmarsh next year

Not sure if memory serves me, but did Peter Pig produce a set of rules called 'Square Bashing"?

I have Through the Mud and the Blood and the British and German figs necessary to do the introductory scenario from Stout Hearts and Iron Troopers - the attack on an enemy held village.
Haven't painted up the figures yet, but would be happy to give you a game in a few weeks once I have done.
In the past I have tried Kaiserbosch from Tabletop Games - not keen; Square Bashing from Peter Pig - quick and simple involvement and combat by squares on a grid rather than proper manoeuvre. I'm hoping that I have found the holy grail of WWI rules with TTMATB.

Two things you need to know... One- do not talk about WW1 play testing. Two - refer to point one!

Recent(ish) issue of one of the wargames mags (can't remember which one) talked about a WWI game using 10mm on an 10x6 or 8x6 table.
The advantage was that at 10mm the ground scale meant they could show both German and British trench systems with mo-man'd land in between

I've managed to get my hands on a copy of 'Through the Mud and the Blood' (thanks Brian), and will be reading these over the next week or so. Will let you know what i think then.
