Here is the round 1 draw.
We have deliberately avoided two armies from the same list fighting each other in the first round and people playing their first game against the same person they did last year.
The number at the front is the table number for when you get there.
1 - Warren Stevens, Norman .vs. Dave Pearson, Hindu Indian 2 - James Leigh, Later Saxon.vs. Andrew Beer, Later Slav 3 - Justin Easby, Norman.vs.Dave Johnson, Arab Caliphate 4 - Paul Tysoe, Vikings.vs.Andy Mellor, Later Saxon 5 - Julie Stevens, Italio Norman.vs.Justin Taylor / Steve Riley, Tagmatic Byzantine 6 - Carl Fisher, Norman.vs.Simon Robinson, Vikings 7 - Mike Whitaker, Later Saxon.vs.Richard Holling, Norman 8 - Paul Griffin, Later Saxon.vs.Wayne Richards, Norman 9 - Tony Samson, Vikings.vs.Paul Scrivens-Smith,Norman 10 - Dave Sculley, Breton.vs.Richard Oates, Vikings
Thanks to Pete Melvin and Carl King - who conducted the draw last night (also you now know who to blame if you're facing an army you did want to ;D)
Some nice match ups - good luck to us all!
(appologises to Dave Sculley for spelling his name wrong initially and to Steve & Justin for getting the wrong variant - the moral here is never do things like this at work where you have to be sneaky so can't always check carefully enough)

I should be banned from any raffles... I always "seem" to come out first out of the hat.
Ask Graham what I did at Roll Call - twice.
Still table one for round one - the only way is down.
So we have in order of number x6 Normans x4 Later Saxons x4 Vikings x1 Arab Caliphate x1 Breton x1 Hindu Indian x1 Italo-Normans x1 Later Slav x1 Tagmatic Byzantine
It would be interesting to see the results at the end of the day for Normans vs the rest

Just a note, Steves army is Tagmatic Byzantine (the better quality guys) and since we have a unit of Varaginian Guard, we fondly hope they do fight well.

Just to say, now home, meal consumed, beer in hand, (well sitting by the computer).
I have to say enjoyed the day, it is a special feeling to be part of a club that can put on a successful event, so really well done to all involved, a real club team effort.
To Simon and Warren well done for arranging the event, the individual record sheets looked fantastic and added a real professional feel. To Pete and Craig for sterling background support and as we said that special thank you to Ethan, who has weened me off sugar in tea again, well done young man.
Lastly thank you to Team Phoenix, the players, we may not have won, but we did the club proud overall. (Thank you Julie for standing in much appreciated, looks like you had some fun games).
For me I lear'nt alot about WAB, playing other non pheonix "regular" Wab'ers, really does add perspective to the rules. Indeed anyone who says WAB is dead just needs to come along to an event like this one.
Well done all and thank you for a job well done.
Paul

So you should - glad that you had a great day! I'll be posting up in another thread the results within the next half an hour - just going out to watch the bats in the garden - there are loads of them - fortunately none of them are Fell bats! Sorry back now Just to say thank you to my opponents today Dave Pearson who gave me a lesson of revenge and how to make your own army look inadequate for the task at hand - well done for the giving me the biggest thrashing ever. I hate elephants Dave Johnson who had the worst luck with dice almost equaling my poor efforts - but I got lucky let's say - a thorough gentleman worthy of best sports! Paul Tysoe - a very edgy game which he really should have won. Great opponent to play against - Vikings are so hard! Massive thanks to Pete, Craig and Ethan for the behind the scenes work on the day and to Simon who got this tournament off the ground with more rules and regs which were thoroughly researched and referenced. I learned a lot today and hopefully I won't see a river scenario like that again - unless I have my Macedonians!
