They look particularly strong at boarding, combining the crocs with the pocket battleships.

Ashley I will play you, however it will be like the blind leading the blind as I haven't played for quite a number of months and it was only about four or five games under the belt. I have my own cards and don't mind sharing if you don't have any. Not all my stuff is painted but most are. Remember its 800pts only naval as rules above. So I take it that it is up to us to make the first step and opening game for the league then... or is this a practise game? I'd prefer to get underway with the League.

I have a set of cards but haven't used them yet as I've only had one game. League game sounds fine as it might get a few others interested as well. I've just about finished painting my 800pts.
Quick question, can we use other carriers is it only sky fortresses that are not allowed.

Warren; are you leaving as one massive league or splitting into two which might be quicker to get done

Quick question, can we use other carriers is it only sky fortresses that are not allowed. Only looking at the following - naval ships (frigates etc) that float on water, submerges, tiny flyers, planes (fighters, recon, bombers, and robots) - no other air-borne stuff or land models (see the rules). As for tables if we can another interested then we could get 4 games in each if we split the tables otherwise one group could just get 3 games only as we have an odd number. Paul bailed out. However come what may Ashley and I would be in the same League.

I'd be keen to bring my British fleet to the league too if there's space. I've played about half a dozen games so far, but the rules are just about starting to make sense!

Ok then Rick you are in - I can do two leagues X and Y so that people don't have to sweat about playing loads of games. The winner of X and Y league tables plays the runner up in the opposing leagues for the semi final and then the final will be the winners of these (evidently).
I will do a league draw although as Ashley and I are playing tomorrow we shall be in the same league - so to which ever of us is drawn we will be both in that league. As there are less games then this means that you must use at least one of the bonuses. If you forget it then that's tough. The semi finals and finals will have no bonus scenarios as such.

Can I ask whys theres a restriction on flyers? They work almost exactly the same as surface vessels, its not as though theyre game breakers. The land stuff, fair enough theres only two or three of us have even got land based gear but restricting flyers seems strange to me.

I would agree with Pete on the Flyers.
Besides the rules pack states that Small, Medium and Large Flyers are allowed, only the flying airstrip stuff is out.
I'm intending to use my Scout and War Gyro units in my force, mostly as they're the extra figures I've got to take my starter box up to 800 points and over.
I do still want to take part in this league, although the rate that I'm likely to get games in is not going to be that high between roleplaying and the SFS2013.

i too agree re flyers.
also, flying fortresses cost a lot of points so if you play someone who puts this in they wont have a lot else to fight with so swings and roundabouts. i have one but would prob not use in 800pts, so if someone else used one i would be fine about it and just keep out of the way of it.
lastly, not many if any of us have ever played the boarding rules so most of us won't know what to do with this. happy to keep it in if thats the concensus but will be slow sometimes as rulebooks will come out a lot and slow things up.

Rules just run on from the original one that Carl did for last year, so if people are happy to play all flyers including sky fortresses etc then i'm not bothered. Just thought originally people had a bit of a whinge about them so kept to Carl's original plan. It wasn't all flyers at all just the fortress ones and sky carriers that seemed to be the problem. Don't ask me why I don't play that often and don't know my arse from my elbow in this matter.

Something that came up in our game that will effect tiny flyers now. Tiny Flyers cannot use their AA to attack naval ships anymore (apparently too powerful). So it looks like Tiny flyers would be taken as Torpedo or Dive bombers instead (or recon). I feel that a unit of tiny flyer fighters would be still useful to take these out. However Carl pointed out that the ships AA should be able to do this anyway. Anyroad here is the the split league. We have had another drop out so one league willl be a bit light. If anybody else wishes to join in then please feel free to ask me and I will slot you into League Y. League X is Jeremy (Prussians), Warren Stevens (French), Ashley Phillips (Antarctic), Pete Melvin (FSA ?), Dave B (Antarctica) League Y is Carl King (Prussians), Dave T (Antarctica),Rick P (Britannia) , Stephen M. (Japan Rising Sun) and Mr or Ms X (Principality of Narnia)
