Mike Whitaker from Peterborough sent me a flyer for the above event. It's a WAB event using 1500+250 point armies from the "Age of Arthur" supplement. Anybody interested who does not have a copy of the supplement let me know and I'll lend you mine. I'll probably go - but at the moment it's too early to say for certain. The flyer was too large to attach to this forum in it's original form so I have reduced it - if you find you can't read it let me know and I'll send you a copy of the original. Cheers Simon Attachments:

Saw this over at the WAB site and he will be at Axes on Saturday so perhaps a little more info from him then? There is a link to the rules set there also. As you said to far ahead to make a decision and as a lot of tournaments I wish to go to are typically in the last week of the month - cashwise I'm generally pretty skint by then for petrol and the rest.

I have all the supplements - which list(s) are you interested in or is it just a general enquiry?

General enquiry as I don't think I have anything modelwise in this era - I just wanted to see if I could use my Normans as stand ins for Franks or similar.

I'm tempted either to get my Saxons ready for this (I already have some it's just do I have enough) or to bring along a Pict / Irish army - using the Warlord / Wargames Factory plastics I have (nothing is started here, but it gets me an army for another era)
I'll get the AoArt to to you as soon as I can

I watched a History Channel programme on Youtube about the Franks and they all seem to be wearing early Saxon gear and no kite shields in evidence. Plenty of round shields, two hand axes and swords. There was no evidence of armour on these guys but with the pelts they were wearing its conceivable that it may have been under these. Some had helmets.
So looking at my Norman army there is no way that anybody would except that they were Franks. So does anybody have any spare Saxons (infantry) they want painting up or could lend me some to get by for this? I will use the Norman cav that I have as a lot have round shields and the ones with Kites can be just a quick swap. I'm won't be using Normans for another few years so I can redo the shields back to kites much later.
Foundry are selling the same models as Franks / Saxons - I've checked BTD and all they do is Saxons. Does anybody know of a company that does Franks?

Newlinedesigns.co.uk do Franks but there are no pics of them, which is risky
Old Glory UK do Franks.

I've had Newline designs before and they come in a fraction smaller than foundry and the like. The majority of my Macedonians are Newline although not bad they have been surpassed now with the advent of Warlords plastics. However Pete I will check them out cheers!

If you were playing Viking old rules you could have used fanatics as beserkers in this it seems.
