As some of you may know Ben has decided to stand down from the committee due to the demands of work and shift patterns. This, together with Paul’s recent assumption of the role of Chairman means that we are looking for two General Committee Members. The role of General Committee Member is ideal for those who would like a say in, and to actively support the development of, our club, but have little or no experience on a committee. Although the role has no specific duties (such as that of Treasurer), you should be prepared to help out with projects within the club if necessary. You can also put forward ideas for the club and its future. Basically all committee members are expected to play an active role in the running of the club. Meetings are held every two months and any paid up member, in good standing, aged 18 or over may nominate themselves for the post. Nominations will close on Sunday 24th June, and if we have more than two nominees we will hold a ballot to decide the two new committee members. If you have any questions please contact either me or any other committee member.
Thank you

I know I've only been with the club a few months but if no one objects I would like to put myself forward. I've been a member of a few clubs in the past and I've never felt as welcome as I have at the Phoenix or seen such a variety of games being played and . Its clearly a great club and a great group so if I can do anything to give something back and advance the club I would relish the chance. "I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears, and sweat."

good man.
as for you not being at the club very long, the old saying 'time is relative' is very true. i.e. the amount of time you have been at the club is of no importance really, but the fact that you wish too help out..... IS!
also, glad you like the club, and thank you on behalf of everyone for the kind words. it's good to know we are doing what we strive to do, which is provide a diverse friendly club where everyone is welcome.
anyone else fancy putting their name forward.

I've been a member of the club for a number of years now, although lately my attendance has been down with other family commitments, I would love to give this a try. I feel that even in the times of my absence I do quite a bit behind the scenes, terrain making, attending Kelmarsh and other shows to represent the club. I think it would be useful to have a woman's perspective on gaming and have a bit more input into suggestions on the way the club is running. So if you consider me then I'm up for it!

excellent Julie.
and yes your behind the scenes work has been most appreciated and invaluable for the events you mentioned and others like Hammerhead, Salute and of course the tournaments run by Phoenix.

As I am one at the moment - Julie has just asked me to say "thank you for your kind comments, its always good for the spirit to have what you do recognised by others."
I would add "without purposefully looking for it".

Just to remind you all that nominations will close on Sunday 24th June - so you've 4 days left if you wish to stand for these posts.

Nominations for the General Committee Member posts closed yesterday (Sunday June 24th).
There were only two nominations Julie Stevens and Pete Melvin. Since we have two vacancies then that works out both are elected unopposed to the posts.
Congratulations to both Julie and Pete.

A win by default is still a win, right...right?!
Just kidding. Thanks to everyone. I look forward to doing everything I can to help an already strong club grow stronger...perhaps into some kind of gamma-powered mechanical monster, with freeway on-ramps for arms and a heart as black as coal.
End transmission.

Excellent tactics there ladies and gentlemen, congrats.
