Hi Guys
Reread Black Powder this morning (one of the joys of being got up at 6.30 by children) and realised we got a few bits wrong last night and in previous weeks. Have to say everything else not listed below which was most of it we got right!
1. Horse artillery can limber move and un limber as 1 one move and has a max range of 36" (Foot is 48) 2. Foot artillery has to spend an entire turn to limber or unlimber or move (i.e. each thing is a move). 3. Artillery CAN shoot in the turn it unlimbers.
4. Units that take a break test from shooting do so at an additional minus one if a wound was taken from artillery that turn.
5. Shaken units CAN be given orders but can not charge. Only disordered units cannot be given any order.
6. Broken brigades do NOT have to retreat although can be forced too by proximity of enemy at the start of their turn.Units from broken brigades can not be rallied and once disordered remain so for the rest of the game. Unengaged units from the brigade whether shaken or not with enemy within 12" have to retire one move (unless in a defended position) and other units (inc. disordered ones) may elect to retire one move instead of recieve an order that turn.
I think the last rules are crucial as it makes broken brigades much more likely to fight a fighting retreat and would have been interesting last night for Simon/Gavin. Also some units were not issued orders when shaken and may have been able to retire and regroup if we had allowed them too.
Finally in light of last night the elite rule rocks!

Clarly there is only one thing we must do in the light of this information. Continually play large Black Powder games till we get it right - right then so name the date

When are you next free?
Also of note is that you deployed over 800 figs last night that would have cost around £400-£500 pounds of Perry plastics supported by metal artillery and commanders.

The union are quarter each Perry, Foundry, Dixons and Renegade. The Rebels half Foundry and the balance Perrys. Yes there is rather alot - all horse trading / swops and a bit of cash, its worth holding onto old figures sometimes for swops and horse trading. Mine you storage is a pain, nine boxes. I did not start out to get so much, but could not resist collecting all that was on offer. But it did look good and the game felt like a battle, so worth it - at the end of the day we just like playing with toy soldiers. Just need to make sure we play enough to warrant the collection, after the past few weeks it still feels good and justifies the cost.

Kelmarsh would certainly help to justify the cost, as would a big ECW game..... hint, hint!
