You may not know that I wrote a set of rules, the Die is Cast back in the 1990's. Over the years I have revised them but now I am in the process of a radical shake-up. Moving away from combat tables, using a combat factor and then cross referencing with the number of figures fighting to work out the losses. The new version of the rules will be using straight D12 die rolls to work out the losses (no; roll to hit, roll to wound, roll to save). A couple of other things have been done to simplify, now just D12s and D6s for example.
What it does keep is it being simultaneous, both sides move, shoot and fight all in the same turn and the combat is split into 3 different types; infantry vs infantry, cavalry vs infantry and cavalry vs cavalry.
Now I have a couple of URLs below to blog reports of historical battles fought with the Die is Cast, that may interest you. I hope they do because what I am looking for is a club that would be interested in taking on the rules and playing with them. Unlike the people who have been playing them with me, you would have the rules and nothing else. Hopefully coming fresh to them you may find sections that are unclear or even have mistakes, I can then correct those and be reasonably confident that someone picking up a copy to buy will have something that they are able to use, just using the book.
Rules are almost finished mechanically and this time I will include army lists so that games can be played using points.
Rules page on my website (the download is the old version of the rules not the one I am working on).

Battles
Magnesia 190BC
Kadesh 1274BC
We have used the Die is Cast to refight a number of historical battles (scenarios on the rules page) and Hastings as well (like Kadesh a bit out of period but worked well).
Why do a new ancients set? Well the world of ancients is somewhat in a state of flux; WAB2 is full of mistakes (for which I understand the reasons), Clash of Empires again has not hit the spot, Warmaster Ancient is a bit simplistic, Field of Glory over complex for what it delivers. And all of these are the IGo UGo style of play.
From the lessons learned with the new Die is Cast, I am then looking to do my new WW2 set.
