I have been reading these rules, absolutley adictive, must play set of rules. Is anyone collecting napoleonic armies? just thought it useful to see what interest there is out there.
I believe there is a large Prussian force, I have thanks to Carl a few british and french, but aso intend to do some prussians just because they are relatively easy to paint and I love the new models avalable. so over kill on prussians.
any one with figures who fancies a go just let me know.
If there is limited 28mm out there I am happy to try the rules out with my older 15mm naps. mainly french, austrians and russians.

Julie is currently putting together thousands of Prussian Landwehr and I've got tons of French guys! Julie also has a number of Prussian Landwher Cavalry lancers and a few generals etc.. We will be looking into the Prussian Infantry (Fusiliers and Jagers). This is a great website for all the Prussian regiments at Waterloo napoleonistyka.atspace.com/Prussian_Order_of_Battle_Waterloo.html#_IV_Army_CorpsGet the Adkin book its bloody marvelous and full of detail. Its slow going for painting as I can never find the time to do it- but we have a 2015 date for Plancenoit - if you want to help us out in a truly massive game for perhaps Kelmarsh. Not set on a rules set as still looking. However Warhammer Nap rules may take some time as opposed to Black Powder. Need to practise both properly before deciding - we have four years!

How are you basing your figures? Fortunately Waterloo uses 6 bases of 6 figures to a typical battalion. each base 60mm by 40mm - casualties are removed by company base not individual figures.
This organisation is also compatible with Black owder and thank fully the kettering club set "grand mannor", so for me a no brainer.
I have to say it also leads to great modeling opportunities as light foot are 4 figs to same size base so can put foiage, rocks tree stumps etc on base to make it look really good.

You are using 36 models per regiment then? Here lies my problem in understanding. People and the books refer to companies, regiments, batallions etc and never seem to get across what they mean. So for Waterloo (Warhammer version) what constitutes 1) a battalion 2) a company 3) A brigade 4) a regiment as its confusing among the books and how people talk about them? I have started to base mine on 4x4 but there are singles around and they can be added next to them on the field easily to make a six.

if you look around the internet you should be able to find Tables of Organisation for armies of the period - these at least will give you the "on paper" strength, and if you look at various battles you can get the actual strengths for specific battles

You are using 36 models per regiment then? The rules set up battalions as a number of companies each company is valued as 6 figures, casualties are removed by company, firing and fighting is by company.
A number of companies equal a batallion for the French it is a minimum of three and a max fo 6, more importantly to function with a light company (skirmishers) and a grenadier comaopny (hardened status - akin to stubborn) you need the full compliment of companies.
A regiment is a number of battalions up to four for the french although typically one would be a depot battalion ( i.e. a recruiting unit at the home of the battalion)
Two regiments would usually equal a brigade two or three brigades a division two or three divisions a corp with attached assets such as a light cav brigade and artillery, etc.
Functionality in Waterloo is by company it is 60mm wide by 40mm deep for infantry, from which line column of attack or column of march can be formed.
You can have three company battalions but they will be under strength therefore of reduced functionality.
Prussian battalions can be more companies but for ALL armies the basic function will be a number of companies each worth 6 figures.
happy to discuss further.

To be fair I agree that there is a lot of waffle in this however as I play WAB and WFB I have gone past a lot of this as its basically just the same format in most areas. However pinpointing certain rules does involve flicking back and forth in the book which is very much like the two forementioned game systems. So no real change there. Prussians getting hatred of the French though - hmmmmm?

Second game tonight - like some ideas but hard work.
We have simplfied the artillery rules so that the range guessing etc can be replaced by die rolls, just a choice factor, especially as in 15mm guessing ranges is a mesy business. (game testing in 15mm as 28mm army under paint). It also speedied up play with similar outcomes / probabilities to guess the range.
The quick reference chart is missing so much stuff its disapointing, how can a company charge so much for a set of rules poorly laid out. It underminds confidence in blind buying. I feel the rules assumes prior knowledge, or has not been tested against newbies learning.
It is salvagable, but should not be required to do so much tidying up on such a high priced product, real shame.
