Graham Sargeant has kindly offered to put on a nights entertainment for us on Friday 9th December at the club and we need every member to let us know if they would like to attend.
the evening is FREE in so much as there will be no subs to pay, and you can bring your own food and drink or we can look to club together and order stuff in.
we could also put on a quiz as well with maybe a £1 per person entry with teams of no more than 3 people, with a prize to the winners and runners up from the proceeds taken in the quiz itself.
we could keep this as just a Phoenix event or could invite other local clubs along, the choice is yours guys, so please vote on the above and let me know if you have any questions.
thanks in advance

I've put in a bit of hard work for a quiz any road so we have a majority of rounds as it is. Go for that!

well this is awkward, only 10 votes and we have 49 members so what do we do? also it is a 50/50 split so do we invite others or not. bit late now maybe, so should we give the quiz a miss?

That's about what I'd expect. Vast majority of club members rarely if ever come onto the forum and post.
In terms of quiz, go for it. Worst case someone puts a few hours effort in to coming up with questions and then the people on the night aren't that interested.

Always worth having then in your hand rather than not. I'll just go ahead with the quiz and cojole people into participating.

so, how is it going to work if some want to do the quiz on the night and some just want to game?
how will this work with us all in the same room?

There are two rooms effectively - how do the role players role play?
We could ask people to sign up for the quiz and go on from there to gauge more interest

true but you might find it boistrous on the night simply because of some of the participation games that are being planned, and the roleplayers tend to be the loudest simply by virtue of the type of game it is as its modtly spoken rather than moving figures etc
best to see how many sign up and go from there i suppose.

Remember that there is a quiz on this night as well, so if you wish to participate let me know. There will be small prizes for first and second place. The format will be simple. Four rounds of questions all equalling the same amout of points not too extensive, plus a music round and an "as-you-go" picture round. You may place a joker on one of the four rounds for double points of which you will be told vague titles but enough to get the jist of what the round may be about.
Just to add there will not be a round on wargaming as too many people play different genres and this would not be fair on certain individuals.

I have finished up the quiz rounds now - and I have pegged it back to 3 rounds They are as follows 1) Sport and Leisure 2) General Knowledge 3) Science and Geography There is also a handout picture round (pretty good one) to fill in as people go and also the final music round where there will be a choice of three different ones given to the current losers at that stage.
So if your up for this then let me know now or I'll just cajole people on the Friday. Its a cracker!!!

It was great doing the quiz and Julie and the girls enjoyed participating as guinea pigs in the magic show ... well done to the NNC team which only won on a tie breaker question looks like the Magic Square team should have had Dave on their side for that question. It was quite unbelievable considering NCC were 6 or 7 points in front before the music round.
Roll on next year's xmas quiz and magic show! Hopefully with more people in attendance.
