guys
i assume we may well be asked to help out Warlord Games again at Salute 2012 (still to be confirmed though) but does anyone fancy actually running a Phoenix table at the event.
we need to decide asap if anyone wants to do this so we can approach south London warlords to ask if there are any free spaces going.
anyone with ideas or wanting to potentially do this please let me know here asap and i will contact them.
cheers

Is Salute just strictly historical or can you do so fantasy type stuff? I was tinkering with Jason and the Argonaughts scenario. We have Greek models, a hydra or dragon, skellies and Persian type models and the big cliff mound we used for the Zulu games, plus a bit of sea for boards! However this would be just the film remake on table top and not the actual myth. It would be a skirmish type game and I would have to look at a game set of rules for this. Interested or would that best be left in the IP bin?

that would be a good table to do mate, perhaps even take it to hammerhead first and then on to slaute.. someone does either 40mm or 54mm models for this as well.

That might be so but I don't have 40mm or 54mm skellies and I guess a dragon or hydra at this size would be outrageously expensive. At the end of the day its just a core of the argonaughts - (the one's that did the actually stealing of the fleece and those that ran up the cliff). You would also have to do the lady with them - (she acts as a sort of level 2 wizard) I think her name was Midea. If that's the case foundry have a model of her but she is topless and I don't know if that would sit well in the memories of the 40+ brigade (that's years folks not bust size!). Also the myth talks about fire breathing bronze bulls guarding the fleece and not the hydra which actually guarded the Lydon tree of golden apples (Hespiredes). It was Heracles who defeated it by cauterizing the heads as they started to grow after he cut them off. So you can see GW intellectual property somewhat lent from the myth for regen and that fire negates it. Actually I prefer the hydra as the fire breathing bulls sound a bit naff.
Yeah Hammerhead first to try it and then on to Salute. Again this is just going to be a skirmish game which will be based on WFB and WAB. However let's not be presumtious I'm sure there are other people that would like to step forward and do something else.

exactly, but it's worth putiing it forward mate and would still be good in 28mm, and lot of fun too.
could quite easily do a golden fleece from teddy bear fur which can get from sewing shops etc and hobbycraft (i think)

I have a lot of rams heads here from some on the old Vampire Counts bits box I have - so that teddy bear fur sounds good - although I'll still around for other options.
I'll write up a skirmish detail over the next few weeks - but as school is starting soon I will be busy. I have a few sketch notes already but I just want to see if anybody comes up with something else and if they do I won't bother pursuing it.

Why are these things always in the third week of the month - when I'm always stoneybroke! Ah what the heck go for it and I'll have to save some pennies if I can! I'll go back to bed now.

SInce I'm at the mercy of outside influences for Feb - I'll skip Hammerhead and since I like to wander down to Salute with mates and skip out early to avoid the rush I'll give salue a miss too. But will probabaly wander across to offer kind words or laugh - depending
