valid points warren and carl however i think the committee should draw up a questionaire becouse this needs to be discussed as this is very important that we get an accurate feedback so we can pose the correct question to the membership when a vote comes and be sure that they are FULLY aware of ALL the ramifications of their vote whatever it may be

I agree with all points made but would opt for more space on a Tuesday or another night. On a different note when do the scouts finish? Would it be possible to use downstairs with a later start for small games or the roleplayers who need less set up time? Just a thought. Also Sat bot an option for most of us with younger families. Failing the above what if we set up a booking sytem for tables or lay the rooms out differently i.e. boards end to end with no gaps like GW HQ.

the scouts dont finish until 9ish so too late to do anything really. having tables with no gaps would be an idea but that means people would be 'trapped' behind them and is a safety issue i think.
having the whole building for 30 quid a week is as someone put it ' a no-brainer' as it means we will NEVER have to move venue again (as long as they dont kick us out) as we have everything we need where we are and the room to expand further if required.

James - speaking to Carl earlier - its quite strange what they say about like minds - I actually mentioned a booking system for the tables. Having a plan on how they are set out and numbering them. However, as you know when booking that computer room or library session at school you do get those that over book deliberately to monopolise these slots over a large period of time and never use them. So we would have to guard against this if we did do this. Anyway I don't see the problem with this but you could have the bookings open for say two or three weeks in advance. Booking for longer periods can be presumptious and as we know things happen in our lives that are out of our control.
Good idea about the GW warhammer style table layout but as Carl says this would be a H&S risk and to be honest the amount of stacked up chairs on one side of the room would make this impossible without trapping people in.

May I suggest some questions to go on this questionnaire? - Were the club to move its weekly meeting, when would you be able to attend? Tick all that apply (Monday Evening, Tuesday Evening, Wednesday Evening, Thursday Evening, Friday Evening, Saturday Morning, Saturday Afternoon, Saturday Evening, Sunday Morning, Sunday Afternoon, Sunday Evening - delete any which are not possible due to the room not being available)
- Would you have any difficulties attending if the weekly meeting was no longer held on a Wednesday?
- Would you be willing to attend more than one meeting a week?
- Would you be interested in all-day (6-8 hour) meetings held on a Saturday or Sunday, once every two-to-three months? (okay, so this one serves my own purpose here, but since you're polling the membership, it seems like an ideal time to get peoples' thoughts on it)
Bizarrely enough, were the club to change its meeting night to a Tuesday, it would make it very hard for me to attend; I don't get back from Uni until 19:05, and that's only at Wellingborough Station. By the time I got my army ready, and over to Rushden, it would be at least 19:45, and that's after a very long day for me (meaning I'd likely not be very relaxed, nor would I be much of a challenge for my opponent). This will continue on until December 9th, at least. Nonetheless, my vote, at this point, would still be to move the night to a Tuesday (assuming that's the day that club members want AND is available at the Scout Hall) as I feel that would be the best decision for the club.

Liam; this is exactly the sort of thing i was on about earlier. yes it may put a few people out of sync for a while but the club benefits in the long run. well said my friend. i assume as from december 9th you will be free of the uni situation??
i too will be voting for tuesdays as it is the best way forward for the club expansion etc. i would continue to attend whether tuesday, weds or thursday. if some nights (due to jolidays etc i.e summer) we only get 10 people in a big building, so what, we still only pay the same fee and we either cover the cost or we dont, exactly the same as if we only had the two upstairs rooms.
i think we will continue to pick up members on the back of things like kelmarsh etc, and what with Warlords all but defunct as a club (something Tom at Hydra told me) who knows, we may pick up some of their guys as well in due course.

Liam; this is exactly the sort of thing i was on about earlier. yes it may put a few people out of sync for a while but the club benefits in the long run. Indeed; whilst it may affect my short-term gaming, I consider myself pragmatic enough to consider the long-term needs of the club over my own. Gawd, I sound all noble and self-sacrificial now... i assume as from december 9th you will be free of the uni situation?? Not free of the uni situation, but that would be the last Tuesday of this semester. Next semester (starting towards the end of January) I would have a fresh timetable which would take me to May, but it's statistically unlikely that it would also finish late on a Tuesday. what with Warlords all but defunct as a club (something Tom at Hydra told me) Without wanting to sound all gossipy, what did Tom actually tell you?

not really, as if you saw Ricks dice rolling last night and coupled that with Jons finite ability to roll a one whenever he didn't need to, then they would be boxed in every week. still u wait till your fow army is ready and we set it against mikes high elves and his baby dragon. toasted tea krauts
