So you want me to tell Mark? - I've asked for two places, possibly three but unsure if Julie wants to go. I do like the idea of three 2400pts games.

Spoken to Mark - I'm definitely in and going, and he's said the War Altar IS allowed and can be used. Big relief for me, that!

Just a quick one for Warren, as I've been going over the rules pack with a fine tooth comb...
Whilst the power scroll isn't banned, the comp does say that Irresistible Force will only occur on two or more 6's coming up, so basically you gain no benefits whatsoever from using it!

That's why I have taken it out, and this does comp the Hoeth battle standard for HE.

First round draw is up on the HeelanHammer forums.
Warren, you're down to play Kevin Weaver's Warriors of Chaos on table 1.
Darrell, you've got Paul Thompson's Vampire Counts on table 2.
I'm playing Adam Hutchinson's Vampire Counts on table 6.
If we can all stay that high up it'd be something of a miracle...
Opponents to watch out for are Chris Legg (no. 3 in the UK), Bryan Carmichael and Mohammad Ashraf. Those guys are all extremely good players and tournament veterans.

Wah-hey - that's my little ruse - the only time I'll get onto table one!! Although I would have preferred to face VC as I know them so well - lucky beggars!

Well what an excellently run tournament this was. Kept simple and easy enough to follow - even for me. Also I enjoyed the 2 and half hours to play the 2400pts aside games. I didn't feel rushed even if I though I was playing O and G. So a quick run down of who I played and the results: Ist game against Alex Read and his Warriors of Chaos. This was a good game but marred personally by inept dice rolling. "the worse that I have seen" said Alex. However countered by a string of double ones and other really low dice rolls for leadership tests saved a lot of Alex's troops. I managed to destroy one chariot - with my Night Goblins. That was it. As a consolation prize (or consoling prize?) Alex bought me a can coke which was well received received at the temperature started to soar. I lost that one 20-0. 2nd game was against Susan Hampshire with her Wood Elves and a very nice looking treeman which she insisted was a treelady as it had all the parts The Arachnarok finally started doing things in this game - it took out the general and BSB 's unit of Glade guardians (bowmen). I think that's to many eggs in one basket. However I was destroying more of my troops than she was (Gork slipping over and stopping on one of units, my Blorc general caning a few underlings for insubordination on the quell animosity test). I got a few lucky hits with the rock lobber on the treewoman (how could you?) and the wolf chariot got a lucky few sixes on the impact hits and attacks. Her treekin were making a mess of my black orcs but they did enough to hold until the trolls slammed into the side of them with a little help from the "sneaky stabbing" spell. A resounding victory for me and very unlucky in places for Susan. She was an excellent and sporting appointment especially when things were going badly. A win 20 -0The 3rd and last game was against Matt Perris (a top guy) who I have met a few times at various tournaments around the country and unexpectedly booked into the same hotel down in Yate near Bristol for the Bristol Brawl. He played with his wonderfully painted High Elves which were arranged as a HE longboat. He won first prize for the Painting Comp I believe. Anyway this game was by far the best game of the tournament. Some ridiculous dice rolling by both of us at both ends of the scale! His HE peppered my guys with lots of fire power and the trolls took the brunt of it with no regen saves allowed due to his Lotheren sea guard having the flaming banner (eternal?). They soaked enough up and I moved them out of the way once my boyz got stuck into them. As soon as the O and G units got into combat it was their turn to show what they could do. However a sneaky +4 for toughness on his Lions of Chrace via Flesh to stone spell bolstered by the vines spell was going to be problematic. Not so says the Orc shaman who promptly dispells it in his own magic phase. Blood bath ensues with the Lions killing 15 orc boyz. In return they kill almost as many but with the Blorcs in the flank it was going to be difficult for the lions. They got run down. The Phoenix Guard with BSB took on the might of the Arachnarok but its toughness was too much thanks to the Night goblins netting them in the flank. This reduced their strength by one. They ran 9 and yes I pursued with an 8 such is the story of not making results by 1 had become a common theme of the day. I've got to learn to shut my mouth when doing predictive dice rolling!! Yes they rallied at the end to deny me the points. Matt was an excellent opponent and even was sporting enough to let me know that the fleeing BSB was also worth VPs a matter that escaped me at the time. In all a 20 -0 win. I finished 11th.To all my opponents - thanks for all the excellent games Best unit in the tournament - surprisingly the Night Goblins who survived every game and took out opposing units in each of them. Best character The black orc warboss - hitting on 2's with his Axe (sword) of striking he was a monster in combat and held the line superbly with his stubborn crown! Best blood bath : Vs Matt Perris' HE Lions of Chrace. Biggest cowards: Common Goblins who fleed at every possible moment (sure it wuz taktikle boss!). ;D
