Be aware that there are a lot of restrictions on army lists for this tournmament, although it would be fun and well worth attending, its probably not going to be the place to try out a heavily weighted G.T. army due to the restrictions.

That's most of the interest for me at least. I'm not going to the GT this year, so it'll be interesting to take part in an event which has made some effort to tone down some of the more horrible army lists.
It would be nice to take a Phoenix Team down to the tournament.
Anyone else inclined to join me, Darrell and Carl?
Incidently some of the Bedford guys are also planning on going, it currently looks like a team of three from Gladiators will also been in attendance.

I'm quite interested - however it is the weekend before I start school proper for the new year.

Checked the rules over - is there any reason why High Elves are favoured over the "can duplicate rare choices" while other races cannot do so - such as dark Elves (I suppose we are talking about bolt throwers?), and snotling pump wagon choices for Oand G

Warren it's purely as the High Elves can take more Rares and Specials for their points. A 2,000 point high elf army gets four rare choices, compared to everyone else's two. The Bolt throwers therefore are one per choice, rather than the 2 per choice for the Dark Elves.
Being restricted to 1 rare of each type penalises the High Elf army a lot more than any other army, as it means you can take only 1 Bolt Thrower. The slight lifting of that restriction purely allows a HE player to take a second bolt thrower (but not a third or fourth), which is not exactly excessive.

AAAh - being ignorant of the facts of the new HE book this explains all. Does this mean that Dark Elves would be still able to take two bolt throwers for one rare choice?

I would assume so, as the restriction appear to apply to choices, not models.

Is the club applying for the tickets here (and we pay the club) or do we have to get them ourselves?

I don't know. I guess that's up to individual people.
