I did speak to individuals about this last Tuesday evening and there was some good responses.
Basically we will have one league but if more players come up then we we can have two leagues and then the runners up in each league would play the winners of the other league. If we play with just the one league then it will be a case of just the winner at the top after all games have gone will be the SFS champion. In that case we will go for two runners up prizes to make this interesting. What I mean by this is if somebody runs away with an unassailable lead then most will loose interest and not bother. At least there is a chance to gain something if you can finish your games.
Those not in the know should be aware that this is a memorial trophy that was traditional done each year with a genre of gaming taking up the mantle each year. SFS stands for Simon Freshwater-Sturgess who was tragically killed in a motoring accident. We play this in his memory as he was an integral part of Phoenix Gaming Club. So far 40K have had a good crack at this for the last few years. If any other genres would like to put in their pennies worth ...or wait for next year then I'm all ears. Fantasy has been in the doldrums of late but it is clear that enough people are putting in the effort to come along most Tuesdays to play AoS.
So if you are interested then I would like you to reconfirm your interest here. If at least 6 of us want to do this then we have a league.
Those that have not played before can quite easily get an introductory game with those people below. Just remember that I have only had a handful of games and due to absences brought on by work related issues I am a bit out of practice.
Now for the gaming itself we could just go with singles games at 24 pts each using the latest Mohammer pools choice system. This will allow for gribblies! Note that as soon as we start in February the latest Mohammer update will be used for the entire league and all other updates will be ignored. If I get support for this I will try and make each round of games scenario different and have a purpose. So all round one games will be the same, and all round two games will be different from round one but will all be played the same. (I hope that wasn't too convoluted).
So please add your name here if you are interested. Before you do you must be committed to play at least one or two games a month.Once we have sufficient numbers I will write the scenarios and basic rules.
