Ok guys this is officially it for our 3rd annual WFB doubles tournament!
The date is Saturday the 3rd of March 2012 - start time for the first game is 09.15 to enable a good amount of time to play and reasonable breaks. The place is at the Rushden Scout Hall as usual. Prices have been held from last year and it will be £12 per team - that's just £6 pound each for a whole day a fun! You can pay via Paypal at warren.stephens@btinternet.com or use the address in the rulespack for cheques. Download the rulespack below; its in word 2003 doc format so it can be still opened by newer word formats.
So as we have been talking and going over a few rules etc. this will be it and will not be changed. Write yourself a 1000pts list for WFB and find a partner to do the same (Allied or suspicious allies only - no desperate allies!). You both play together for the first round and then you won't huh? you say!
You will then partner with others for rounds two and three, which are slightly different scenarios to your run of the mill rule book ones. All rounds to be drawn a week before the tournament which will mean that all lists must be in by the 18th February to allow us to vet them all. Please ensure that lists are either in Word Doc 2003, rtf or in plain text in an email. Please do not send reams of army builder lists. I don't mind if you send an Excel list but please ensure its accompanied by the above requested formats.
You will obtain 10 tournament pts for sending in a correct list before midnight on the 18/02/2011. Guys don't say that you didn't see this request.
Those of you that have been before know how good this is and all of you have left having a great time. This time we have upped the ante - some may find the rules not to their liking and therefore we will except defeat if you choose not to join us
But for the majority you are in for a treat ;D!
For the first round draw I am seriously thinking of videoing it and placing up on our flickr site or even on Youtube for gamers to see.
Whether I will get round to doing this? - I will see.
There are some great prizes including trophies for best two individual doubles gamers and for the next two (silver) and bronze medals for those finishing in the next two positions.
There is also our Phoenix Bloodthirster Trophies for the two individuals scoring the highest amount of vps for and against for all their battles (even if one of your partners did all the work in one match).
There is a best individual sports framed certificate and best painted 1000pts army silver plate.
Also the Team Hex award for the two that finished in last place but also gain free in for next year.
There may be some additional spot prizes (not guaranteed) which I have mentioned in the rulespack.
Top this with lashings of free coffee, tea and squash all day and free doughnuts in the morning. Also save a few pennies as Julie will be making cup cakes, flap jacks and even some savouries as she does for Kelmarsh (they pretty much vanish quickly) to sell all day if you are peckish.
Hope that's enough to tempt you.
I have reserved 6 doubles Phoenix Gaming Club Places - which means for all others there will be 18 doubles places left as we have a full capacity for 12 tables downstairs. Please pm me or send me an email if you wish to enter. Please give me your names, armies taking and club or Independent.
I will start a seperate thread for entrants.
I got rid of the last thread on this which had 104 people read it from that point - so I could post up the updated rulespack as we have swapped from open lists to closed lists. Seems the customers are always right in this case - although I do disagree on a few points that it may prove the downfall of others who face their partners later on - if that should come to fruition. Still we shall see.
