What a smashing match.
First round my general on ZD siren songed into the daemonettes and then offered up the champion to stop me getting more than 5 kills. Seekers positioned awkwardly but varghulf took full advantage charged and mowed them down to overun into skulltaker. He took a wound off him and then skulltaker smited him with a killing blow on a 5. A raised unit of zombies didn't delay him onto the my lord on ZD as they got raised to ashes by a fire spell. Flesh hounds also closed in. Flamers too far to shoot.
General popped on combat rez and his general Tzeentch Herald and the horrors unit it was in got ripped to pieces by the blood knights. Skulltaker took another wound and disappeared into the void. Dragon became stupid. So this was the downfall (literally of my VC army) they were lucky in the first instance but later rounds saw skellies and dire wolves succumb to crumble!
Meanwhile centre stage was taken by the big battle between the bloodletters and BSB herald with that -2 to your lore Sundering Banner. This practically messed me all game. I forgot about my Helm of Command on my level 2 on the ghouls that had the bloodletters surrounded. This would have given one of the units WS 6 - would have been different but still in the end one unit of ghouls got smashed and dropped due to general (and heroic BSB)and the other held on. They got a crafty hand from the vamp with the Blood knights as he released the book of Arkahn to give them re-rolls on hits and ASF to dispatch the BSB.
Meanwhile the frenzied Blood Knights weathered the storm of flames from the 2 units of flamers and then had enough of the firey monsters. One round later no flamers in sight as they gloriously smashed them.
Two royal miscasts from me in that game particularly with spells that would have turned the game. Usually the way!
One miscast was on a spell to allow the general to strike first.
Another was the only time I cast gaze of nagash to get rid of skulltaker before he ploughed into my lord.
Left on the board for VC was
A unit of BK with DreadKnight Vamp
Level 2 vamp at half wounds from miscast
A unit of Ghouls
Left on the board for Daemons
2 flesh hounds.
However due to the carnage given out by the daemon army I could only manage a solid victory - ah well nobody has massacred this army yet and without any shooting you really have to take your licks as you have to go toe to toe in combat only.
Thanks Darrell for a great and very tough battle.
Still think that DoC are broken and its not surprising to here Darrell saying that after major complaints at all the GTs that they are thinking of redoing it.
Unit of the match was undoubtedly the Blood Knights but the Lord on the ZD gave more than he received.
Top dog in my book was Daemons was the Bloodletter BSB although Darrell may have other views .
