Andy and I were talking last night and we fancy putting on a BIG Flames of war game on the all dayer on Jan 2nd.
We could maybe do a 3 or 4 a side game if enough people are interested. I know that just the stuff me and Andy have would be enough to get 4 or 5 people going so if you dont yet have an army ready for the battlefield no problem.
What do you think guys? whos in??
Cheers

I'm in. We may need a few tables, depending on how many want to play. I can probably do 4-5000pts of late war german, if people want to use my stuff. I'll have a look and write up a few possible lists. So, anyone else want to chance there arm against the panzers (and lots of supporting infantry)

After checking the Footbal fixtures I am OK for the 2nd so think I should be able to make it. I might even have some tanks finished and painted by then !

Please don't tell my wife, but if needed I can field anything upto 5500pts of germans late war. I can trim units out all the way down to 1500 so anything is possible. I do need to paint up some artillery over Christmas though. This will give a very balanced force with a bit of everything. How many points do the Allies want to play with? If we go too mad on this it will take us too long to play and either be very crowded or need a load of tables (which isn't fair on the other members), thoughts?

I reckon 1750 - 2000 points per player should be plenty. So it depends how many players are keen to get involved. I can probably put about 4000 points of US stuff on the table. Oh and around 3000 points of Jerries if required!!

4000pts, per side, sounds about right to me too. I'll write a list. Anyone want to command half the Germans? I'll even let you choose the tanks or infantry heavy half Andy

i would like to play...are we talking Total War....BTW 6-7,000 points per side with 1,500 - 2,000 points per player is about right based on our game versus Cambridge Wargames Club.....do you agree Roddy!!!

I suppose I better be on the side liberty and Freedom - Yanks for me then! ;-)
Whos in so far? Me (Allied), Andy (Jerries), Sparky(Jerries?), possibly Michael (allied?), Nobby (jerries I assume?). If we get one more player (allied) then we could do 2000 points each.
Having played Total War once before I think we need at least a double length board (12 or 14 foot) and I would say 3 boards wide (6 foot). That gives a bit of room for manuvre otherwise it can all end up a bit like a WWI trench fight.
I have purchased a lovely little Italian style village (8 houses) which should compliment our Russian log buildings beautifully! :-)
I will do up 2 x 2000 point American lists (1 armour & 1 Infantry) - we will need someone else who either has allies or is willing to lend us some - Alex / Keiron?
I will bring the total war book down on Tues to look at the rules - if we play by the book we need to make our lists legal but then ALL the support platoons get pooled and shared out. It is best to build forces with several strong core combat platoons as the support platoons do not count towards company morale. I also learned a few sneaky tricks from our fiendish Russian friends over at Cambridge the last time I played! -I will obviously reveal all to my allied friends!!!
Cheers

I'll bring my forces down, I've got some more tanks now!
Im playing ECW on that day, but will happily lend my forces to anyone who wants to uphold Liberty and Freedom!

Does Sparky have a German force? I'll do myself a 2000pt list and a spare one for him, just in case. Andy

I think he is building a force at present. I have plenty spare Germans.
