Is the character I gained for winning round 2 now part of my std 1500pt army?

Simon, That's right, I think I read in one of Warren's earlier posts that the new hero that got upgraded was always part of your 1500pt force (as he was one of the rank and file promoted). He only joined the skirmish garrison force for a jolly day out! Andy

I thought that was a one game only effect.
But I could be wrong.

Yes Simon your character gained from round 2 is part of your 1500pts army - for round 3 he just came out (as Andy says) for a little jonty exercise or his first "breaking in" post with the reserve. He will now join the 1500pts army as he should. However, in the later return game for desperate defending (Europa league attacking) then the Byzantines will be afforded the same privledge for the reserve army. So defending BC team remember to add this guy temporarily to your reserve force for that game if you "won" him.
This does mean that the extra character will count against you in the next round if killed. For example if you now have 3 characters this is a possible 3 battle points to give away (2 if its a general).
This is why I stressed to people to try and keep their subordinate heroes to a minimum. Darrell may just have a problem in his game with that many chieftans if I remember!! He has many battle points to give away. On the other hand his warband throwing may just get him across the board quicker but also into more trouble.

Oh cool, he's a permanent addition.
Question, does that change the points cost of your army, in order to be fair I guess it must, as if he's killed your opponent surely deserves to score his actual points.

... of course your army becomes a little more expensive points wise, but could be a liability in the fourth round game. As a matter of fact he should be added to your attacking 1500pts game in the desperating defending 3rd round game.

Just a timely reminder for the fourth round games. Please note that those that "won" a hero upgrade from round 2 should have this clearly put into your 1500pts army. Also those that gained extra skirmishers from round one must do likewise.
Please also remember that the winners in the third round gained the services of a spy - this is for both teams. Originally in the rules this was just for the attacking team which brought a few questions. So now its for both in the interest of fairness.
This spy must be used in full dice rolling view of your opponent IMMEDIATELY BEFORE your fourth round game and before deploying. The bribery section can be made at anytime at the start of each round but remember if that unit is in combat they will fight back and defend themselves. Any wounds suffered by hamstringing cavalry or destroyed war machines have no armour saves allowed. A Hero or general that is attacked by the assassin but is not killed will start the game with those wounds if suffered from this. Otherwise you will have a bonus Team battle point/s which will go towards the overall round team points if the assassin is a succesful murderer.
May I also point out that winning general's from round 3 may also roll on the victorious general table (page 95) for this game only.
From round 3 the people with the spy and victorious general rolls are the following-
Darrell (Gauls) - EL Warren (Spartans) - EL Simon (Danes) - EL Stephen (Carthage) - BC Andy (IR) - BC Colin (EIR) - BC
Remember that you do not have to win the game to gain bonuses here. Simply the unit that was the cause of the general's death / indirectly caused the panic off the board will be awarded a +1 to their leadership in the next round. This is it... there is an option to get even more games out of the way on the 2nd January Open Day (Saturday) if people are up for that. Effectively we could get round 4 and round 5 completed on that day. If you are up for that then I could draw for round 5 which is Breakthrough! on the AGM day in two weeks. If you have 4th round games arranged prior to this then by all means I encourage you to just get on with them in the meantime.
