Okay, here's a thread to detail and allow discussion of the Phoenix Gaming Club's Games Day 2009 table. To begin with, here's the detail and blurb that I sent to Bek Hawkby: Game System: Warhammer 40,000 Table Size: 6' x 4' Armies involved: 1000 points of Space Marines + 1000 points of Eldar vs. 1000 points of Chaos Space Marines + 1000 points of Orks. Terrain: A variety of Games Workshop-brand hills, trees and ruined buildings. Table: 6 x 2' x 2' foam boards, fully painted and flocked. Title of Game: Strange Bedfellows Background: Assailed upon all sides by the enemies of the Imperium, a small Space Marine force fights to survive. Caught off guard by the alliance of an Ork warband to a Chaos Space Marine raiding party, their doom seemed inevitable until a lithe figure appeared amidst their camp. Despite the fact that the Imperium has come to blows with the Eldar in the past, circumstances have forced the two armies into an unlikely alliance to fight off the green horde and the ancient enemy.
That's the brief I gave but there's no reason we can't expand upon it ourselves. The main idea was to use Stephen's Space Marines and Orks and David's Eldar and Chaos Space Marines. Each side has a tough but slow element (SM/CSM) and a fast but fragile element (Eldar/Orks). At this point, we still need to do the following: - Construct army lists for each of the armies involved,
- Create an appropriate scenario with simple victory conditions,
- Playtest and amend the above as necessary.
