Hello, on my visit last tuesday i spoke with the treasurer (sorry, im awful with names..) he mentioned a small skirmish game set around 1900 or so with small bands of miniatures (adventurers/explorerers)
I now cant remember the name of this game but it sounded my sort of thing, can anybody offer likely suggestions of what it might be?
Many thanks, alex.

That'll be Stephen, hopefully he'll see this shortly and comment.
Time period fits for Malifaux which is cowboy/steam Punk/ Fantasy Mish mash. Uses cards instead of dice.

That was indeed me.
We talked over quite a few different game systems. The 1900 ish set one was In Her Majesty's Name by Osprey Games.
I can bring my main rule book down if you want to have a look.
My figures for this are still not painted, only played a couple of test games, but it's quite fun.

Hello Stephen, I thought I had remembered your name but was not 100%.
I would like to have a look at the rules if possible, I was very interested in the idea of smaller Skirmish games and that one sounded good. If there is a chance of a trial game some time soon do let me know.
Aron, thanks for the suggestion of Malifaux. If there are other similar skirmish size games played at the club i would be interested in having a look at them to see how they work and the style of miniatures they use. I can't start collecting large forces but a handful of interesting characters would suit me down to the ground, especially Cowboy or Victorian time periods.

Hi Alex, I play a few small skirmish games. Dead mans hand ( a Wild West style, shoot out game) roughly 7 miniatures in a gang. Frostgrave ( a fantasy wizard, apprentice and warband looking for treasure set in a frozen city) roughly 10 miniatures. Walking dead ( from the tv series, you play a small group of survivors looking for supplies against other survivors and walkers/zombies) 10-15 miniatures. Aggro (a football hooligan game which a few members have firms to play) 10-15 miniatures. If you fancy a game of any, let me know. Paul.

all the games Paul mentions are very good.
Not played IHMN but Malifaux is good, played once or twice.
there are quite a few players of Frostgrave, Dead Mans Hand and Malifaux at the club so you should be fine for getting a game of these with someone, in fact i could give you a game of frostgrave on the 4th or 11th of April if you want, and can provide you with a warband
let me know
cheers

Stephen mentioned Dead mans hand to me and that seems my sort of thing, i even have 28mm cowboys already so i will definatly be looking to play that some time. Paul if you would like a western skirmish soon that would be great.
Malifaux too seems pretty interesting in style of models and scenario so i will happily give that a go some time soon.
Frostgrave is less my style but i am always keen to give things a try so would love a game on the 11th April if thats ok Carl ?
Thanks for your answers and offers chaps, all very welcome. Though i am keen to play some 40k at the club, with rule changes on the way and armies to paint it would be good to try some other stuff too.
Alex.

Hello Aron, i would like to try Malifaux so i will definitely take you up on that offer. I won't be able to make it down for a couple of weeks, and the 11th is booked so some time later in April would be good. I hope to get a game of Dead mans hand and In her Majesty's name some time soon also.
