Ok a long time to digest what has been happening at the club in terms of what people are playing fantasy wise. It appears that WFB 8th edition has only been played by myself once this year (and of course my opponent). There have been zero takes for 9th edition and fantasy players are all playing AoS with a insurgence of Kings of War lately. A lot of the historical players have been the main source for interest in KoW and some including myself and others have dabbled in the fantasy side as it is relatively easy.
I would like to carry on with the Rushden Rumble however we can confirm now that 8th edition is a bit dead in the water with club players. 9th edition is a no-no it seems and with (at last count) near 16 players on AoS it seems and no brainer plugging for an AoS doubles tournamnet. I believe Paul is thinking of a Kings of War singles competition for next year also. So with KoW wrapped into that it seems AoS for the Rushden Rumble is the answer, especially with the advent of the General's handbook that has made tournaments a little more possible. I have to go with the potential of 16 players coming from the club although getting all them on a specific day in March may be tricky. Without question we look to fill the hall as we have mostly done every year (last year an exceptional low count due to the fantasy wargaming climate), so this will be an open invitation if we get the interest going.
So question is who would be interested in attending the Rushden Rumble in March as part of a initial doubles team? In the tradition of the Rushden Rumble and what makes it sort of unique is the idea of swapping partners in round 2 and 3. The great thing about this is that you never know who you will partner until they are grinning at the table as you arrive. All points will be added as if it is a singles roster. I will work out a system for this in due time but I do need to know the level of interest first. Both Phoenix members and non-Phoenix members are more than welcome and encouraged to have their say here too. So blaze away please.
Just a note - it is much to my dismay that 8th edition has been shelved, but we have to evolve and go with the times (and not the end of times).
