We had a good game tonight testing the first scenario out to see if there were any flaws in the rules for the way the giants move. Couple of things came up. When the Giant hits a one and falls down he will take a wound but the next round he takes this turn to stand up but he will have to roll the scatter dice to show which direction he is facing. We had one scene where one of the giants charged into another one on a random scatter roll but in the flank. The players decided to turn the charged giant around but I wasn't sure about this. I feel this cheated the charging giant of a plus one for the flank and therefore it shouldn't have been moved to face. Unfortunately the "5" came up a few times and lobbing the rock was fun although it is stated that this works like the rock lobber - There really should be a clause where there is no minimum distance. A giant can effectively can just drop it on the head of a model / models in front.
I'm looking to test the second scenario soon.

This has now sold out... which is a term I am using loosely as there is still entry money owed by people and we are running out of time to get the trophies and pay the hall. Please pay up people.

There have been a couple of tweaks to the first Rushden Rumble Scenario 1 in the scenario pack. This has been revised but if you have printed already just add these:
The deployment for the merc giant's didn't seem to add up so that they were equally spaced out what gives? Answer: This has been adjusted from right to left: Place the first giant's base centre 6 inches in. The second one should be 20 inches in from the first, the third one 20 inches from the second and the fourth one should be also 20 inches from third. If this has been done right you should have the fourth one 6 inches in from the edge of the board.
What happens when the Giant falls over? Answer: He goes by all the normal rules for this but will get up automatically in the next compulsory phase. The direction he faces will be determined by the scatter die.
When do the 4 merc giants start to behave badly and move? Answer: Every compulsory phase yours and theirs.
What happens if the merc giant is in combat does he roll on the Drunken state Table? Answer: No, he's way too busy doing what he likes best; stomping and smashing face!
What happens if a merc giant touches the edge of the board during his compulsory move? Answer: He re rolls the scatter die and moves the remaining distance on the movement dice in that direction.

Just to mention there are slight updates to the scenario pack for games 1 and 2. Nothing major just a few additions to clear the air on past practice games. Although we can't account for every eventuality, you will have to look for me on the day if something odd comes up. I shouldn't be hard to find - the one relaxing by the laptop or casually walking around admiring everyone's giants. To be clear if you can read into the rules first then that's great if a decision is rooting for both sides then D6 it to save everyone some time. I will always be on hand if things need further explaining. We may even have Ian Sturgess around but I believe the up and coming excuse of being a Dad for the first time around then may hold sway to his appearance. We shall see and wish him all the best in the mean time.

Just a reminder that list deadline for the Rushden Rumble 2015 is midnight 21st February 2015. Some of you may be at Slaughter in the Snow that weekend (including me) so you could just pop me a list that weekend in person as I will be there too. If sending via email put it either in the text of the email or better for me (and less work) as a word file, Pdf or excel... no real problems with those. Cheers Warren

Still that last spot going. I have also updated the scenario pack and rules pack - only minor changes via practice game play of things that may crop up. These are the same packs found at the Dropbox site via Facebook. here just scroll down and you will see them on our Facebook page.Just to remind people lists in two weeks - tournament is 4 weeks away!

A few questions have been raised about how we should be conducting fragile alliances. Apparently last year a few people had a number of different ways of doing this with their interpretation of the BRB rules for this. So to clarify firstly only Dark Elves and Skaven and any army they are allied to in a game must do this roll at the start of those players turns - this means from round one.
Dan Humpage gave me a good example and I will take this one as it better explains it than my over wordyness.
"At the start of each player turn any alliance containing either skaven or dark elves (this includes the other player paired up with those factions)
Both players roll a dice - for each roll of 1-3 the alliance becomes 1 step worse
Example 1:
Player 1 (skaven... Boo hiss) rolls a 2 Player 2 (chaos ) rolls a 4
Alliance becomes 1 step worse (Suspicious)
Example 2:
Player 1 (skaven... Boo hiss) rolls a 2 Player 2 (chaos ) rolls a 1
Alliance becomes 2 steps worse (desperate)"
This has to be done at the start of those player's turns NOT game turn (page 12 will show people the difference between these(grandma sucking eggs and teaching - rearrange). This lasts until they are desperate.
As a number of people are coming starting with desperate allies it is probably a small mercy in comparison. Also if they are desperate anyway they don't have to roll. Round draws for two and three may see you paired up with desperate allies also.
If we could please all sing from the same hymn sheet it will avoid the 10 minute discussions about it which I would imagine people would want to use to play instead.
On a much better note - the first round draw will be up on Friday!

Played the third scenario tonight and this was pretty tough but great to play. The deluge was the sore point but it added pluses to some armies and really whacked others. Pretty much swings and roundabouts. Bat swarms would crawl at 1 inch movement but then I would just get them moving faster by declaring charges. Lightning strikes were hilarious.
So I have built in a bit of errata for this.
1. All flyers - including those with the hover special rule will be at ground movement stats. 2. Wood elves that take magic arrows do not take penalties for the deluge. 3. On the third game turn there will be an D6 abatement test. On a 4+ all BS shooting will be at -1 rather than -2. All warmachines will need to test before shooting at this will be reduced to a 4+ rather than 5+. Flyers and those that hover will be at 10 inches and 5 inches respectively and cannot march move. This would be instead of the ground movement only rule for deluge. 4. If this Abatement test has failed in round 3 then it will be a 3+ in round four then 2+ in round five and so on. 5. It will always be raining.
I hope that slightly helps with the deluge rule.
