folks
after hearing that the event may not run in 2015, to being told that this news wasn't correct, i await news either way from our contact at English Heritage.
however, in preparation and hope that the news is good, i would like to ask people to start thinking about what they would like to put forward for next years games.
those of you who were there this year will know the space we have, and we must assume we will have the same again as the traders will be back if it does go ahead. so, if you would like to put a proposal forward / register interest in running a game, please do so here, and give a brief resume of what it would be, i.e.
period / battle
size of game / table required
figure scale
thanks in advance

Period : Napoleonic Battle for Plancenoit (Waterloo) Bicentennial!! This will concentrate on the village only and not the miles of surrounding area around it. Centre piece will be the Church and cemetery with houses as capture points. Roads lead in and out of the village. Prussians under Bulow are advancing to take the village in a pincer movement to surround Napoleon and ease pressure off Wellington (who was getting a tonking at this time). The French have to hold out and defend the village.
Table Required: 6 x 6 ft square Figure scale: 28mm Rule set: Black Powder

Also still at planning stage
Korean War 1950s Jet Age: Glostor Meteors (outclassed in the air, relegated to ground attack role) attacking a series of ground targets along the Yalu river. Opponnents being NK and Soviet Mig-15s while F-86 Sabres try and protect the Meteors.
Probably 1:285 or 1:1250. I'm going to buy some "test" planes to see what scale I like best
Will probably write my own rules again (was in fact writing them at KM 14, thats planning for you)
Two 4x4 tables, one for the air one for ground attack. So 3 tables probably?

table sizes will depend on who wants to do what and and the usual space issues.
if we have two games of naps put forward, i.e. Warren and Dave then they can only have the area each game had this year if we want two other periods in as well.
lots of people don't want to do naps / BP so we must cater for those, as well as giving variety to the paying entrants. as i said to Warren and Dave i know they want to do separate battles but it may mean they have to join up on one table if they both want to do naps and at least 3 other games are put forward.
until we know if the event is on its all a bit mute as they say. will keep everyone posted on that as soon as i hear anything.

For what it is worth, you cannot do a BP game on a small table in 28mm.

Current thinking is Martyn and I want to run a small game
we'll need three tables as per my original post
Details are still being firmed up, but the idea is for us to run a small quick "entry level" war game for people who want something different from the main BP game.

well so far we have ONE Nap game as a def considering the anniversary but the other tables are up for grabs, but as always there is limited space, and so far we have the AWI game, Pete's aerial game, Simon & Martins game, a poss Bolt Action so we will need to get ideas in asap please as we may not get these all in the marquee
Warren; you will need to contact Dave Wilkin and sort out the Nap table between you as there may be room for only one it seems.
can everyone else please let me have their game ideas by AGM night at the latest please so we can finalise what we are doing incase we need to get anything for.
the idea needs to include
period models table area required if you want to do one or both days (if we have 2 or more ideas that want to run a game only one day then we can swap tables to accomodate and have more game variants)

guys
bad news i'm afraid but i have been contacted by English Heritage today and this years Kelmarsh History Live has been CANCELLED, and it will not be run again unless major changes to funding etc. are forthcoming.
this is an end of an era for the club, but i have told our EH contact that we are available should it change, or if they want our help with anything else.
