earier this year quite a few people mentioned the possibility of running a bloodbowl leauge. As i have organised previous ones and would gladly be up for running another one who's up for a bit of a bashing? ;D

That would be good.
I had been thinking of organising one myself, but was still mulling over exactly how I'd have liked it to run.
I was thinking about running a fixed team league to avoid the minor issue we've had in some of the previous leagues in that the teams that win their opening few games get more powerful quicker than other teams making it more difficult for the people who play them later in the league to beat them.
Was thinking of having a team purchase cost of say 1,200,000 or maybe 1,250,000 to allow all teams to have a decently rounded squad as the standard 1,000,000 leaves some teams spread a little bit thin.

This is not going to clash with the trophy is it?

Ok no problems - I've only had one game of this but was led through it by a power gamer - needless to say I got seriously hammered in this and still didn't quite get the rules. Nice thing about this game is you only need a tiny bunch of minis.

Yeah, but that's half the fun of league play - the disparity between teams and injuries. And the event cards tend to help out when you have a huge difference between team ratings. At the end of the day, there's nothing stopping a team from retiring if they get too beaten up and the coach submitting a fresh team.

The last two leagues we ran were based on what is now the living bloodbowl rules, which meant no event cards (I forget what the balancing mechanism for games was).
The unbalancing was more along the lines of teams that win getting larger fan factors, plus more experience, so gaining more cash, thus a bigger team, so win more often, so more fan factor and experience etc.
The other teams get more powerful more slowly, so the early winners tend to pull away from the rest of the league.
Even cards do go some way to help even this out, but I don't think they really balance out the discrepancy.

I preferred the rules from both boxes to the Living Rulebook myself. The rules in the Living rulebook are more difficult to remember as they just tweaked a lot of the rules, and Kicking is a problem. The event cards were a fun addition too

I was seriously into bloodbowl and still play occasionally. I have 5 teams - Dwarfs, Wood Elves, Halflings, Human and Orc - and would be happy to lend them to any who wanted to give Bloodbowl a try. Obviously I'd be very supportive of a tournament. I have to agree that I prefer the original rules to the living ones although I did like the changes to the serious injury and killed section as it toned down mighty blow etc and resulted in less outrights deaths.

I'll dig out my copy of the original rules, plus death zone and bring them down to the club on Wednesday.
I guess we just need to work out exactly who wants to play.
It sounds like it's me, Darrell, Daiv, James and Liam. One or two extra players would nice to round things out.
As with James I have several teams. In my case Orc, Human and Woodelves, so if anyone would like to learn how to play, I'd be quite happy to bring down my copy of the game, plus all of my teams and run a couple of teaching games.

Actually this sounds rather tempting - if I don't have a game please count me in.

I'm busy this week, but I can give you a demo game next week if you want? I have arranged a game with Mike for the 13th and Julie is playing Carl - with the new DE book.
