Hello, before Christmas there was a thread suggesting 4 way 1000pt 40k battles, is anyone interested in playing one of these over the next couple of weeks?

I'd be up for this. I haven't played a good game of Carnage in a couple of years. ;D
Though, I won't be available to play until the 20th of January at the very earliest.

I would also like play.
The 20th is not good for me however as it clashes with the roleplay group I'm DMing for.
I would be available to do this on the 27th however, and every fortnight from then onwards.

are there any special rules for this scenario? I have an old white dwarf with a 4 way battle in with a link to the rules but this has long since been removed.

I have the .pdf file downloaded and can email it to anyone interested in playing the game. It was written for third edition and, as such, will need a little rewriting to bring it up to scratch for fifth edition play, but seeing as the game is supposed to just be for a laugh, not too much needs to be done. Heck, all that needs to be done is the following: Scenario Special Rules: Replace the words "and Random Game Length" with ", Reserves and Deep Strike". Set-up: Replace bullet points '1' and '3'-'5' with the following: [/b] All players roll a die. The player who scores highest chooses which deployment zone he prefers and deploys his army. The player who scores next highest has the deployment zone to the left of the first player and deploys his army next, and so on. 3. If any player has Infiltrators in his force then they are deployed after all other forces have been set up, according to the standard Infiltrators rules. The order Infiltrators are deployed in is the same as the deployment order. 4. The Outflanking rules are not used. 5. The player who deployed first takes the first turn, followed by the player to the left of him, and so on.[/ul]

Are we still looking to play this, and if so when.
I'm asking as if we're not looking at the 27th of Jan, then I need to think about arranging another game for that week when at the meeting on the 20th.

Im still well up for for this and dont mind when, whenever is best for you guys. We still need one more person for a '4-way' though.
How do assaults work with more than 2 people?

There are two ways to do it;
The first is as described in Broken Alliance, on page 272 of the rulebook, which is basically that if there is an existing assault between two other players, you may not join in.
The second is basically that it's a free-for-all slogfest and that you simply treat each squad as an individual squad for the purpose of allocating attacks against. Working out combat resolution could be tricky; you've got the choice to either work out individual results or overall results.
To give an example of that, assume that there's a Space Marine squad, an Ork mob and an Eldar squad, all in combat with each other. The Space Marines kill 2 Orks and 1 Eldar. The Orks kill 1 Space Marine and 4 Eldar. The Eldar kill 2 Orks and 2 Space Marines. Now, you can choose to compare the individual kills totals and work them out separately (SM 2/Orks 1 = Orks lose by 1, SM 1/Eldar 2 = SM lose by 1, Orks 4/Eldar 2 = Eldar lose by 2) with each loser rolling Leadership and (if failed) Initiative against each of their winners to fall back. Alternatively, you can simply total up all kills (SM 3, Orks 5, Eldar 4, so SM lose by 2 and Eldar lose by 1).
As an aside, we can play Broken Alliance if we don't get a 4th player. Probably a lot fairer than trying to make Carnage into a three player game.

Shall we pencil this in for the 27th then?
As several of my role players play 40K I can ask them next week if they want to join in to make it a 4 way game.

shall we say 1000pts or 750pts?

750 points is hard to construct a sensible army for.
1,000 points will be fine.
