Can any one please let me know what the difference is between D&D version 3.5 and 4th edition? I don't remember having so many option in the far of 1980's!

Now this is just my opinion, Im sure others will tell you different: 4e is more "restrictive" and the characters are more generic when you level I feel, its hard to make a character your own. There seems to be more synergy required in the party as well in that you NEED a tank, a healer, a ranger etc etc or the party will just get murdered. Theres also a lot less roleplay, its more focused on the dungeon crawl aspect of RPGs.
Anyway, thats my 2 pence for what its worth.
I've got a copy of 4e if you want a peek at it

5e is on the cards soon apparently. As a way to get into RPGs yeah 4e is probably quite a good one, its certainly simpler than previous editions, it just lacks flavour. Working hypothesis: it was made for the WoW crowd.

Why'd they even bother?? I have the WoW RPG books from before the MMORPG even existed (well I think there older, my memory is not so good these days!)
