Yeah really did not play at all well last night and made silly school boy errors! I think its getting used to playing a new army in a certain style and actually knowing what each unit does to maximise and use them wisely. Crappy dice rolls all round for me didn't help - however this is usually the case with me when nothing rolls right, when this happens I tend to just tentatively push stuff about without any care or thought or plan (with a hint of dejected failure smelling all over it). The saracen cav should have done a lot better. Panic fails all over the shop was poor especially when you HAVE to roll for your general first. Interesting stats there but what is the % coefficient of variation here?

More analysis based on the above figures:
For Thrusting spear the CV is 0.933, for throwing it is 0.953
In the worst case scenario for a thrusting spear the difference is 1.62% in favour of the Throwing Spear. In the best case scenario the difference is 15.046% for the Thrusting Spear
Mean difference between the two types is 3.472% in favour of the thrusting spear, variance is 0.0019 and the CV is 1.244

Some great games being played as we learn, I think I am slowly getting there. But does frustrate when you read stuff and forget where it is in the book when you play a few days later, Grrr.

I learned/remembered a new rule last night - basically never charge cavalry across anything but open ground or they lose the benefits of thrusting spear (which I knew) and Throwing Spear (which I had either forgotten or never known)

Wow awesome maths. However I would still take the re rolls to hit over extra strength because the more hits you score the more chances to wound you have - simples plus my dice rolling can be appalling so re rolls are welcome as if you don' t hit you can't wound and my dice don't obey laws of averages. Have to say my saracen cavalry rerolls saved me from ignomy - first roll 10 dice two hits, after re rolls total 8 hits yup I'll take that, I think I converted 3 to kills !! End of enemy cav unit, very nice indeed.

I have a stack of work to do as I have been busying myself with the Rushden Rumble this last weekend - finalising paperwork, rules, and scenarios and getting in on various sites. So some school work was neglected to may have to give up a night to catch up. However willing to go to yours if you want on Thursday. Just need to know if you have the following x 10 Saracen lancers and/or X10 Saracens or Arabs on horse with Javelins and shield and any arab bowmen spare: need about 10?
Are you going to Buddies USA as I didn't get payment from you and forgot you on the count as I only counted the amount I had and divided by £5 to get numbers, when I booked? So if you want to go you can either phone up Buddies and say the date and its with Phoenix Gaming Club under my name and pay your deposit over the phone.

Great tournament today although where the heck I came I just don't know. Didn't really need to. However well done to Paul Tysoe for winning this - seriously don't know how , but there it is. Nice touch with the charity dice offs at the end - that was cool.Great day and well organised. Although I would have preferred to see the scenarios before we got there to save on reading all that info - still I got to be a Duke!!!
