More the merrier Ashley.
If its all the same to you James I'll probably go with the array I mentioned. My luck has been AWFUL the last while and I'd probably end up with a total feeb as a character (even on 4d6-the lowest I'd end up rolling three 2s and a 1)
Just so everyone else who wants to play is aware, I'm going for a human swashbuckler. (I randomly have someone elses copy of Complete Warrior and was flicking through it for inspiration and had also recently watched The Princess Bride) Fingers crossed for plenty of chandeliers.

Ashley: I'll be bringing my character fully made, but if you don't have the books then I'm sure you can quickly get one written up on the day, its easy enough done.

Well as it turns out it looks like I own the books for 3.5, I could be wrong thou. Understanding them however is another thing, I've so far got a human cleric with stats but am stuck on skills feats and spells any ideas

Aye Im having to do a fair bit of flicking back and forth myself. As a human you'll get extra skill points and an extra feat. For skills its basically what you think your character is going to be doing. So Im taking points in tumble and use rope so I can swash my buckle and will probably take some in bluff and sense motive so I can charm my way out of situations. I think it depends if you're going for healing type cleric or battle-pope style cleric. Some points in heal might be useful, and things like decipher script since your character may well be the brains of the operation. Feats: Combat casting may be useful as it allows a bonus to spell casting when you re on the back foot. Quicken spell or spell focus maybe? Or perhaps toughness if you re going to be in the thick of things smashing stuff in the face with a morning star. Spells: I'm not so sure about, Ive never played a magic user as subtlety is not my strong point. Cure and/or inflict light wounds look useful.
Hope that's some help.

definitely some kind of battle mage. not a full blown tank but i fancy occasional offensive or buff spells and a bit of healing.
has everyone else decided on what classes they are.

if I remember correctly, clerics get all spells but have to choose daily, which they are praying for. Lets you plan a bit easier than a mage can.
I've given my character a back story and I'm trying to pick skills based on that. What has your cleric been trained for. Which God do you pray to? (as some prefer you to use certain spells)
Also, as a human and the extra feat. Improved initiative is often a good call.

My cleric worships Pelor the sun god, this gives him access to the healing and sun domains. So i can be a medic if someones badly injured, or blast enemies with a bit of fire.
I'll see about some skills to make him more of a bookworm deciphering text and such if you guys think its were i should direct him.

I wouldn't want to hamper your creation by saying "pick these skills"
It's always amusing when a party has a cleric with no healing spells, a thief who can't pick locks or pockets and a ranger who can't track.
Makes a game interesting!
My Elven ranger is going to take track and survival though :-) . . . . Just in case!

Its just cause pete mentioned it. When i looked at the skills i wasn't sure which would apply to a cleric apart from the meele or spellcasting ones i've got 20 pts to spend including the bonus 4 for being human, (4x4=16) +human bonus of 4.
So we've got a human swashbuckler, an elf Ranger and a human cleric. doesn't seem to be the useuall lineup.
