These are the final years of the Thalessean Imperium. Since time immemorial, the Porphyr Dynasty have ruled over the empire, from the Broken Mountains to the Spice Coast, over the Thousand Islands and to the edge of the great Drakenflotte - but those times are gone.
The last heir of Porphyr is dead, and with no Emperor there can be no Empire. The Nine Regents are powerless, cloistered in Lira's Hope with what remains of the Legion, at the mercy of the Autokraton, ruling their dominions, lords of all they survey. It is only a matter of time before one makes a bid for the throne, and plunges the fragile empire into a destructive civil war.
As if this were not enough, dark rumors abound - to the north, the Undying Ones are appearing in the frantic tales of farmers who claim to have escaped by inches, militiamen certain they have done battle with ethereal monsters. Merchants from the Islands are harried by pirates, Illyikoi raiders and worse.
This is a time of terrible fear, but for those willing to risk everything, it may yet be possible to save the empire - or re-make it in their own image...
With that pretentious plot hook out of the way, I'm looking for anywhere between 3-6 players for a D&D 3.5 campaign, starting sooner rather than later. I'm more than happy to accommodate anyone who hasn't played the game before, and I'll be in on the 9th, but if you could let me know if you're interested before then, that'd be grand!
Thanks!
-James

Haven't played D & D in ages so would certainly be up for something.
It would depend on How often you were planning on running a session though as there are other games I play.

That was exactly what I was hoping you'd say!
Count me in then.

I have a game for tomorrow night but I would be interested in playing a campaign. I believe I played 3.5 maybe twice, played 2nd a fair few times (many moons ago) and gave 4th a go but couldn't get into it. Other than D&D I generally played V:tM and WEG Star Wars, so you know, I'm not a total tabula rasa.

Mmmmm, this thread is starting to sound interesting. I did play D&D, MERP, Traveller, CofC and a few more to boot way back in the distant 1980's... may well be interested and will chat tonight as I'm down playing Malifaux. Cheers

OK first in probably a series of questions:
Are we using minis or all in-brain (as it were)? I'm used to playing without but willing to try whatever.
Open dice rolling or DM does it all?
How many Elves does it take to kill a Goblin? None. A Dwarf already did it. Thank you, thank you. I'm here all week, try the mead.
I'm certain I'll think of other (relevant) questions before the day is through.

All in-brain, and you'll be rolling most of your own dice. If anyone needs to borrow a set, I've enough for one spare complete set, but other than that you're going to need to bring your own. I'm having a tricky time tracking down my core rules books, though >.<
P.S. we'll be down one on the 16th, Pete and Aron still keen to go ahead?

Oh aye, very keen. Do you want us to make our characters in their entirety? If so how do you want stats done? Randomly or a...I'm struggling for the right terms here...chosen pattern if you see what I mean. Ie assign stats of your choice from a number set of, say: 15,14,13,12,11,10. Does that make sense to anyone but me?

just roll 3D6 for each stat and assign them as you like

I think if I did roll that many 18's I'd have to reroll. Wheres the fun in playing someone with no flaws. It would be like playing myself ! :-)
Thanks, I'll have a look through and drop you a pm on any querys

Wheres the fun in playing someone with no flaws. It would be like playing myself ! :-) Lol. Yeah I just don't trust myself ("Oh thats cocked, re-roll!") and I certainly don't trust my luck ("Welp, thats 6 stats at 3 then...") If you have no objection I'd like to use the standard elite array (unless you intended the PCs to be lower in ability ) which is 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8. Or if you want us to roll for them I'd be more comfortable when everyone is present. Any thoughts everyone?

If you're happy to go with it, it's up to you! I've just always been used to doing 3D6/4D6-lowest 1d6. If you're more comfortable, you could roll it up on Tuesday?
