Wyrd have just announced Malifaux 2.0 with open Beta happening at the end of the month. (May 31st)
Streamlined rules, Gremlin Faction, Henchman upgraded to Masters and upgrades.
I'm hoping they don't streamline it too much. I like how simple and complicated the game is.

I must admit I was a little disheartened and maybe a little dubious of a change to the rules format. Agreed the game in current format is fairly simple to get your head around but has immense depth...easy to learn but hard to master. The change/alteration of rule set is what put me off Flames of War, when they changed it to version 3. I do understand there may be a few issues with the Malifaux rules as the game has developed and the new characters/factions/abilities and other creative juices of the game have problems. Lets hope Wyrd don't mess with the rules just for the sake of messing with the rules and getting more sales...always a bit peeved when my investments in rules books etc. become useless. Lets see what happens.

We can always keep playing 1.5 if we're not happy. :-)
I've listened to a few podcasts on the subject. Soulstones seems the biggest change. No healing flips, only a positive flip if using one to cheat (not adding the total).
It's not even been a year since storm of shadows came out. Well I'll wait for the beta at the end of the month before I scream and panic too much.
I agree with your comments about changing for the sake of sales but also, all the points that have been changed, I can see why they've done it. Lets just keep a red joker or the Ace of Masks handy. . . Just in case.

Malifaux 2e Beta is now out. Rules can be downloaded from the wyrd forum here www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?43070-M2E-Playtest-Files-5-31-13Core rules seem largely the same. Looks like the majority was just cleaning and clarifying. Crew selection and crew ability's seem to have changed radically in some cases. My play style may need to be updated slightly.

Thanks for the link. I'll try and take a look over the next few days. Does this mean Zorida and Collodi dream team is over?

Yup, both masters now (although Collodi isn't in this test. His will be in the Autumn.)
The good news is the 3 Ten Thunder masters are the ones I have :-)
Lady Justice now has 14 wounds and a heal action. The Illuminated have regenerate still plus a zero action heal. I thought they were resilient enough before.
The upgrade cards have a lot of the more complicated ability's on them.
Leviticus also looks to have had some interesting changes as do the Viks.

I've just finished reading the M2E beta rules and I'm generally quite impressed so far.
At first some of the models seem to have lost some of their complexity/character, but then once you start looking at the upgrades etc it becomes clear that they've shifted some of the complexity to crew selection instead which cuts down on unused abilities. IMHO it looks like M2E will be a far more approachable game with much clearer rules.
I want to get DaveB's "Fire and Ice 2" out of the way first so as not to confused myself but would be keen to try the beta rules out in a couple of weeks if anyone's interested.
It's also a great time to pick up your first crew if you've been thinking about it... Why not blunder through your first few games with the rest of us on an even playing field!

That was my plan as well, I didn't want to start mixing things up at Fire and Ice as well (and I would have)
I do agree your points on the rules changes and definitely think there for the better. To be honest, as a Lynch player I was quite sad to see two of his ability's go but on the other side of the coin, they were so situational I'd never gotten to use them.
The upgrade system is certainly going to make things interesting and will certainly give you some more variety in how you handle opponents.

I like the idea of a level playing field....I may even win a game :-0 I too wanted to get through Fire & Ice before frying my brain with more rules. Its a sad day for the Zorida and Collodi tag team.....

Thats is one Tag team I'm glad I won't be facing again! I love fighting them in Slaughter but anything else is like fighting in treacle! Knock them down, they get back up (worse than the undead!)
I'm not liking the idea of facing your Leviticus again 2.0 looks like he has other ways to add the hurt by sacrificing my crew!
If any one wants to arrange a game with this ruleset, let me know and we can sort something out for the 25th or 2nd after Fire and Ice.

Von Schill also a master....another super tag team (him and viks) must now disband :-( On the upside some of the Frierkorp stuff which I assume will be following looks fairly interesting

All Henchman are getting the upgrade, Schill made it in due to Sommer moving to the Gremlins. Poor guy lost out on Ophelias promotion too!!
Latest update has brought a few tweeks too. My fav being "Viktoria of Blood : Told her to put on more Clothes"

M2E Rules book, faction Arsenal decks and 2 new sets will be in stores next week.
Feedback so far has been very positive, and I've certainly been enjoying my games, and seems like some good interest down the club.
