Now this is the first time that GW have created a box set that will make you 10 plastic models for £30 (Forsaken). For the same price you can get the Book. Is it coming to the point that even for me this is just a tad stepping over the cliff pricewise? www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/armySubUnitCatsLarge.jsp?catId=cat440004a&rootCatGameStyle=whI know we always moan about the price hikes and it was the price of metal that was to blame last time. Now it seems that sequential lines of polymers are to blame - is plastic more expensive than metal? I guess its what you call the nudge factor... lets see how far we can nudge the price until someone drops off that cliff. The only ones staring down from the top at the broken corpses of teenagers and wanting to please parents will be the elitist rich, the spoilt and the heavy tourney gamers (in play obviously). Now its going to be a case of asking the question"Do I actually need this?" before buying it and invariably the answer will be yes, much to the distress of my wallet.

If you're making our plastic from fossil fuels then the price of oil will make it more expensive .
Back around the time of the 1st Gulf War there was a company that dropped it's plans to release its latest rules set in a specially printed ring binder because of the impact the conflict had on the cost.
Instead they lowered the price and gave you a sticker to put on your own binder

£30 for 10 plastics when Victrix do 60 for £22.95 is ridiculous.
come over to the dark side mate, you would get good money for your warhammer stuff as new is SO expensive.

Thankfully all the new WoC has left me a bit cold and it doesn't really fit in with the rest of my Nurgle affiliated horde anyway. I'll buy the book and magic cards but the rest... nah.

Price is due to the tooling. It's expensive to make the injection moulding and GW are doing short runs compared to warlord etc. who are keeping the same plastics for longer periods and bigger runs. Plus GW run shops, have higher overheads and crucially have a niche market as you can't get GW models anywhere else but you can choose a variety of retailers to go with your bolt action rulebook. Personally I think 10 for 30 is criminal when you consider the size of unit needed in the current system. They still do good value starter kits though. I want the hobbit but sadly the 50 quid rulebook and 70 quid starter set is not something I can justify at the moment. Speaking of the hobbit the fellowship plastic models from mines of Moria just got released at 9 for 35 lol.
