I found the TP hard to follow. I thought the TP points differential linked to VPs was a great idea but could not understand why in the first game the bridges gave additional tps where as in the other games objectives gave VPs that influenced tps? Personally I feel there shoud be roughly the same number of tps available for every game to keep things fairer. Anyone who gt off to a poor start in the bridges was effectively out of the running or a least it seemed like that.
Personally I would use the TP table based on VPs but would have it go from 0-21 and link it only to the points of the armies. I would then have board quarters, objectives, bsbs, general, standards etc count directly as additional tps rather than additional VPs. That way you could alter the additional tps on offer so that there was always the potential in every game to win up to 21 tps from fighting the opponents army plus X additional tps for completing specific tasks - these additional could then be kept roughly similar for each game.
Just a thought but thought this would be easier to keep tally of as VPs would represent only the destruction of opponents armies and tps would represent overall generalship.
So for example
Game 1 tps based on vp points differential only on points actually destroyed plus 10 tps for each bridge.
Game 2 tps based on vp points differential as above plus 5 per quarter
Game 3 tps based on points differential as abve plus 7 for each counter held or taken.
In all or just some games BP could add 5 tps, gen 2, bsb 2, standards 1 etc.
Nonetheless a really well organised tournament and a good day out. Cheers Simon and the rest and of Phoenix.

Cheers Carl. As I said many more to be seen on Flickr. Paul was in full on "sell to Dave" mode. If its Classical next year, well...I've always fancied painting some Hoplites...

A very nicely laid out report there Mike. I have controlled - D 'ed your blog and look forward to more reports and blogs. I felt your pain vs the Hindus - I gave Dave 60 points in the first round although he played this the only way he could and deservedly trounced me.
It would be interesting to find out how many people, for the Apellido, actually managed to grab their booty back off the raiders. Its a little difficult to ascertain from the results table.

NEXT YEAR!
We've already had a chat down the club about what we'll do differently for next year (making sure the postcode of the venue is in the rules pack is top of the list) and we've already got a few ideas.
However - before we get too carried away - if anybody has any comments, or suggestions for next year's event - including era/armies then send me a pm on this forum. While I can't promise we'll allow your favourite army or use the era you suggest it will help us when planning and will be taken into consideration.
I already have received feedback on -
the last scenario - (some people felt it required more turns)
the lack of postcode in the Rules Pack (I thought it was there- it was in in early version so not sure how it got lost)
the fact that 50% of the available TP were on 1 scenario
So the more you tell us - what worked , what didn't and what armies/era you want then the better we can make next year
Cheers
Simon

Ok First Scenario - very good scenario, although potentially giving people podium places after round one with the amount of battle points on offer was a little skewed.
Second Scenario - doesn't need changing - its fairly straight forward
Third scenario - I found this difficult for the Apellido to get across in time. All the raider needs is a speed bump to stop you on one flank and that's it. I played Paul and if he had been the raider I would have never got there with heavy infantry 6 inch march, worse if marched blocked, and if he decided to put those pesky Irish no-gooders in the way. Nevermind about wacking a shieldwall around the booty piles. Paul should have won the game we had but we ran out of time and rounds. Perhaps middle of the board stashes as Julie had remarked about which was played at the NCC team event, would be an idea.
I felt that the additional VPs scored for General, table quarters, ASB, ABP, normal stds were excessive. In my second game I felt very awkward taking that many points from Dave Johnson and this turned the battle points into much more of a lead than it seemed. Julie got rolled for 4197 pts in total which is more than twice the amount of her army in game 2.
As for the era, people were talking of medieval. However I don't have a competitive medieval army, so this would mean more expense and time painting up yet another army. I would use this two or three times in one year to be packed away for three years after being used in an Axes tournament - unless I go to other tournaments. I would prefer either a classical or perhaps you could limit the time frame within this era. You mentioned early Greeks period and also Chariot Wars. However the Chariot Wars puts me in much of a similar situation as the medieval one. I would have to start from scratch.
Again just my opinions - take them or leave them.

The VPs were adjusted to allow for the inflation in army cost to keep them the same in relative terms
Example: Old system you had a 1500pt army and got 100 vp for a unit's standard. New system you have a 2100pt army (1.4 times the points) and you get 140 vp for the standard (again 1.4 times the cost)
With hindsight I could have also adjusted the VP table in a similar manner - but since it deals with differences NOT absolutes I didn't think it would make such a significant difference
If you send me the spreadsheet with the results that Pete was filling in through out the day I can see what effect this change would have made
