Justin Taylor from Veni Vidi Vici (VVV) will be down at the Axes 2012 tournament with a few wares to sell as last year. Please let me know here or Justin at the VVV website if you wish anything in particular for him to bring down for you to buy.
Hopefully Justin could add to this message thread with his thoughts??

guys so far we are 4 for this tourney:- andy mellor/tony sansom/justin easby & 1 of 4 other players that may increase to 5 overall. On another note any ideas where i can get my hands on some Norman Infantry ? found some nice looking cavalry models but no decent infantry...failing that i will take indian elephants for fun.

Conquest Games have also just announced they are releasing plastic Norman foot to complement m at the end of the month. Having seen their cavalry I expect good things.
For the peasant classes you could always use the plastic Fryd made by Wargames factory.
Also try Gripping Beast, Essex Miniatures, Wargame Foundry, Renegade Miniatures (their Saxons are usable in a Norman Army - look at the select Fryd for the poor and the Huscarls for better quality infantry)
I have just bought some of the renegade Saxon Fryd for use as generic darkage - spear, no armour and shield troops - suitable for Viking, Saxon, Norman, etc armies

I've actually got most of my infantry from Black Tree Design and if you register as a premium member (costs nothing) then you get sent extra discounts via email. I'm looking to get some archers for my Normans but waiting on the conquest games plastics first before making my mind up. They not bad for the price of metal (compared to other available companies) and you actually feel like you've got something to push around the board.
I just find the Gripping beast Saga ones push up the price too much to try and make the Saga line too elite. Its the Saga name that has people buying warbands at stupid inflated prices on Ebay.

The Saxon Fryd make great generic Dark Age low quality troops. I think the box includes bows too if you're looking for unarmoured archers.
Since only Retainers or Skirmishers in the Norman List can have bows and neither of these have the option for Armour then the Saxon fryd will be suitable. The Retainers do have shields but if you give them a bow, they don't.
If you wanted to use the Fryd as Retainers without bow (and hence shields) you can either use the ones in the set (they have round and some kite ) or go to Magister Millitum and buy seperate shields - which is waht I did to make my Numidians into Peltasts.
Cheers

All I saw was a reasonable reaction to an extortionate price

Not to be a sour puss but there are a few people out there who haven't paid in for this just yet. We are but a month away and trophies and the hall need to paid for. So if we could please at your earliest it would really help out so that the event can run smoothly.

For Phoenix chaps we would expect payment by the first week in August please. Please remember to send your lists in to Simon Robinson before midnight 4th August to get your bonus of 5pts and also remember that there is an additional 5 pts for lists that do not need amending. This can make a large difference in the scores - so get them in! Please check for Simon's email in the downloaded pack. You could also send them to me if you wish for checking.
