The elections for next years committee positions are now open. The following roles have been filled: Chairman: Paul Tysoe Vice Chairman: Carl King Treasurer: Stephen Mawson Secretary: Simon Robinson Events Co-Ordinator: Warren Stevens I, for one, welcome our new (old) Committee members! There are two Non Specific positions available for which the following individuals have put themselves forward:
Aron Darrell Julie Pete
Please vote for two people and PM Simon Robinson or let him know in person who your wish to vote for. To reiterate what Stephen has already said: The results of the committee election will be announced at the Club's AGM on Tuesday the 18th of December. Votes may be cast on the AGM night, but all Votes must be registered by 19:45 on the AGM night in order to allow the AGM to begin promptly.
I would encourage everyone to cast their vote, the Phoenix is a democracy and it is important that the people that represent you reflect the club's make up and friendly atmosphere. Remember, the committee does a lot of hard work in the background and represent all of you in endeavours and I hope that you will continue to support and contribute to its work

Thank you Pete,
I cannot stress enough the point Petes makes about voting, this really is your chance to "OWN" your club, we are here as guardians of YOUR CLUB, so please have your say and vote.
Remember there are TWO positions to vote for so you have TWO VOTES.
NOTE: SIMON ROBINSON is your Secretary so PM Simon your TWO votes.
Thank you
Paul
Oh and thank you all for allowing me to have a full year as Chairman, a Proud Chairman of a Proud club.

Voting, at least for me, is going to be pretty arbitrary as I have no real idea what recommends two of those candidates over the others. Any chance of some info to help me choose?
Tell us why you should get our votes!

Hmmm, a bit of self promotion..... Well as you asked!
Well, I consider my self calm and level headed and always try to see the best situation for everybody.
I also try to argue both sides of an issue as most things are never as clear cut as they seem.
I am down the club most weeks and consider my self approachable and easy to talk to.
I play a range of games (Mainly Malifaux and Firestorm Armada at the Mo) but am always happy to try anything.

And well why not. We're not always the best at promoting what we have done (probably a British thing) and we don't necessarily play against that many different people. So please accept my election speech below. I am not a Berliner.
I have been a member of the Phoenix for just under a year now and a Non-specific member of the committee for about half that time. Since becoming a member of the committee I have represented the club at Kelmarsh (where I sacrificed a pair of shoes and got trench-foot, trench-leg and trench-elbow) and Derby wargames show (Trenchfoot again but in that case was the ‘orrible toilets rather than flooding).
I have resurrected the Phoenix Wordpress site from its appearance of being a dead club to one that is up to date and relevant to what is happening at the Phoenix. I have also used my own time to feverishly build the club’s WW2 scenery in preparation for next years Bolt Action tournament and recording the scores and taking the “official” pictures for this year’s Axes 2012 WAB event.
I try to be a friendly and accessible member of the Phoenix; I have introduced a number of members to new games and played introductory games with them (And been subsequently whomped up and down the table) I also attempt to match people up when they have no one to play against and have recently arranged a number of games for people who otherwise may have gone without.
I take every opportunity I can to promote the Phoenix on and offline so that our club can grow and continue to attract new members.
In summary, I feel I deserve your vote as I am an inclusive, positive and forward thinking individual who will serve the Phoenix to the best of my ability. Than you.

Well as my fellow club members are doing a bit off self promotion prior to the committee elections I had better do the same. Most off you know me as i have been a member for 15 years and in the past i have been its chairman or its vice chairman on numerous occassions. so i have a lot of expierience of being on the committee. I am currently the Gaming club network's Club development advisor (a position which i can offer free independant advice on gamers wanting to set up a club). I feel my expierience can once again benafit the club for which i care so much for so if you think i can bring something to the club then vote for me cheers Darrell

Hello everybody here is my bid for re-election. I have been a member of the club for a good 8-9 years now and have been at my committee post for the last 6 months. I work tirelessly behind the scenes making all manner of scenery for the club and also extrovert boards for special events. I am currently working on a number of Dark Age and Medieval buildings for the WAB and Fantasy tournaments for 2013. Of these events I have represented the club at Kelmarsh, Salute, Games Day and Hammerhead over the last God knows how many years forging good relationships with the general public and promoting the name of the Phoenix Club with new people. Not only have I represented the club through the special events but I have also done so through a host of tournaments held all over the country. I have represented the club over the last year to help win the Inter-Club trophy at the Norman Cross Crusaders, winning the WAB tournament section last year with Simon. This demonstrates that I am a team player. As for my character most people know that I am easy to talk to and will give my views and opinions where I can. I am a good sport at the tables as I usually play for fun and not the win - but its nice when it happens on those rare occasions I am a dab hand at cooking and will cook cakes, savouries and anything else that is requested for special events. I will be doing the xmas cake for this year's Xmas quiz! So if you wish to vote for me with your belly or your heart I would be most grateful.

Just to clarify a few points on voting
1) anybody who votes prior to the AGM may change their mind upto the deadline - they must tell me thay are doing this so that votes are not double counted.
2) Voting by email/personal message on this board etc will close at 16:00 on the day of the AGM (this is to make sure all votes are counted - if voting after this deadline your vote may be lost)
3) candidate can vote for themselves
4) people can vote for a maximum of two candidates
5) People can formally abstain if they wish
6) We're using the 1st & 2nd past the post system.
Good luck to all the candidates and thank you to all of them for putting themselves forward
Simon
